Ask the committee.

They have openly bestowed at large bids to teams solely because they lost an inordinate number of games to teams that should have beat them.

Games they were never expected to win.

Florida was the preseason pick to win the SEC. Louisiana beat Florida. So, Louisiana is better than any team in the SEC since they beat the team anointed as the best team this year in the SEC. Makes sense, right? LOL!
