But initial thoughts are our on our athletic programs p&l. What did the new soccer hire cost us? Football staff that is a small army? Could be a plethora of financial impacts, Bc the next coach and staff will cost more than where we’re at now.
So we can’t take care of one our most important programs because the soccer coach left? We went from paying Billy $2 million to $700k to MD and got a buyout and the assistant pool didn’t change. We already pay top dollar in the Sun Belt for basketball. Next excuse please.

This is incorrect and exactly for the reason you tried to use to support your statement. Football has been winning at the highest level EVER and we struggled with attendance. It's not a basketball thing. Did you see how many people attended the top 28? People do care about basketball but we've been in the same rut for years. People don't want to be a part of a stagnant program.

The money is available if they wait until after April. I'm not certain any change will be made.

A retirement ceremony after the buyout drops in April is what I hope would happen. For the record, I think Marlin will be the coach here next year.
Re: Basketball Coaching Change
hopefully we can wait til march because we are courting someone who is on staff somewhere coaching deep into march, early april

What’s your point? That means he’s been interested in UL sports for at least Marlin’s entire tenure here. Some people just like to read the board and not post much. I didn’t even read the original post. I figure this is as good a spot as any to discuss the potential changes and if people think or want them to happen.

Yes sir, but does that make the discussion illegitimate?

I just found it strange that both threads regarding basketball coaching change were started by two different people that have been members of the forum for over ten years and between the two of them have 45 post total. It makes me suspicious that's all.

Yea, that's fair. I specified the fact that I wasn't a MBB season ticket holder to convey that my opinion wasn't a strong one.
