Both may play, but I do not foresee a dual quarterback system.
I'm hoping with all I'm worth that you're wrong about our starter. Nunez isn't a starter IMO. So if he is the starter we have no qualified starter.

He's going to go with the senior who can spin it and distribute the ball.
Re: Which UL quarterback contender has separated himself?
If one of them was a legitimate D1 starter, he would have been announced. I expect both to play a lot this year as I expect both to struggle with consistency. My hope is that both can stay healthy and one takes charge. It should be interesting.

We are overthinking this.
If Nape was worried about maxing wins now, he would have brought in a top notch Juco, ready to start, star.
In fact, he would have loaded up on Jucos for most of the recruiting. He is laying a foundation, and will coach up existing players in starting positions.
Sit back. Enjoy the journey. Trust the process.
That is all.

Or they could both be legitimate D1 starters, and he is deciding which to go with it.
I just don't get the logic of this. Why is having a position battle always good at every position except QB?

There are not 120 legitimate starting QBs playing college football. I highly doubt UL has two. It is the most difficult position and takes a melding of skill, intellect, scheme and skilled teammates. As I said, I am anxious to see how it plays out.
Re: Which UL quarterback contender has separated himself?
The plan was to RS Lewis his first year, but the staff felt him to be a future great one.......this was after Summer camp complete......he showed some unreal moves with his feet last year and looks a lil bigger....Nunez can chunk it and scrambles adequately.....still waiting for my lefty/righty offense that Monroe used!!!
