I totally agree with this! We've come a long with FB, but have much further to go. I agree with u on the MBB & WBB, and softball. And men to the baseball.....we will be nothing short of phenomenal in the next 2-3 years.

I went to a softball game this past season when Alex Stewart pitched. That young lady has the potential to be the ace for many of the top teams in the nation. Otherwise, I agree that if you look at the situation for all our sports, there is reason for optimism across the board. As VObserver said earlier, we may need a little luck along the way to continue the excellent results.

On a related note, Massey does a similar evaluation, but uses 10 sports rather than the 5 used by CBS. They also include all of Division 1, not just FBS.

In last year's Massey, UL was at #87 [#71 in FBS] Tech was at # 155 [# 102 in FBS].

The separation continues.

Interestingly, though not surprisingly, going from 5 to 10 sports dramatically skews power toward the P5 schools. UL is ahead of 23 P5 schools in the 5 sport model, only 4 in the 10 sport model.

Just for you, Boomer, Tech is ahead of 5 P5's on CBS, none on Massey.

They have already made their excuses... nothing matters but Football and Men's Basketball.

Then again... record for the last 10 years in Football?

UL: 66-57 [4-0 in Bowls]

LTU: 62-62 [2-1 in Bowls]

So...what exactly IS the ruston crowd hanging their hat on?

Yeah, they are in full denial mode. But facts are facts, and it just makes their little doggie heads explode when confronted with it, lol. But that just makes it even better.

If men's basketball counts, they deserve much credit for their record of the last few years. Their senior class won around 100 games which is something few schools can boast about. On the other hand, we have beaten them 2 straight years. Also, their last NCAA appearance was in 1991 while we have gone in 92, 94, 2000, 2004, 2005, and 2014. That is 6 appearances for us to 0 for them since 1991. We also were in the NIT in 2002 and 2003. We were in the CIT twice recently as well. Our basketball resume compares very well to theirs. I would not argue with those who say it is superior to Tech's. Of course there will be Bulldog supporters who will say football is the only thing that counts. To that person, I ask if he has ever made that remark to a non football Tech athlete. I am sure that person (say it is a softball pitcher) would be thrilled to know a so called fan does not care about the effort he or she puts in to represent them.

Mike, aside from our NCAA appearance last year, I am willing to concede that Tech has been better than us in Men's basketball over the last 10 years. They are 188-146 over that span and we are 148-166. It is hard to argue with that, even though they do not have a tournament appearance.

I agree. Louisiana basketball was subpar in that timeframe.
