Dang, interception.
Cajun defense holds. Punt, cajuns take over on their own 40. We've got time and a couple timeouts. Need about 30 yards to have a shot at the field goal. Let's go cajuns!
Attendance 15,077.
Cajuns lose a few yards and punt. 2:25 left and Troy has the ball around their 25. Pick up 17 on a run. Not looking good.
Troy punt. Cajuns take over on their 9 with 1:01 left! One timeout left also.
Babb INT. 17 seconds left. That's the ball game.
I could well tell the attendance was shy today, even the tailgating. Wonder why, it was good football weather.
Maybe too early in afternoon? Maybe the lost from the last game?

The reason is that we have fair weather fans!! They bail out for any reason....the weather, we lost last week, etc, etc, etc. As soon as we start winning they jump back on the wagon, until their poor little hearts are hurt. I get so damn sick and tired of these so called fans that I could almost cry. Please, do not post about the weather. I am 73 years of age and frozed my butt off today to go an support the Cajuns, especially the Seniors. I salute the ones, students included, who were there. You are the real fans.
Your damn right it was cold, great football weather? not to me. I won the KATC patio drawing so me and 5 of my family and friends got to enjoy the patio today. Wish I had won a month ago but I cannot complain I was treated very well. It was very nice and I want to thank the great folks at KATC and the Percy Guidry Company (especially Keith Guidry) for supporting UL football and for their hopitality.Quote:

I too was disappointed in the attendance, for the season we did very well but today we did not do our part. I thought Lafayette had finally figured out that WE have a 1-A football program here, apparently more know we do than knew before they just did not know that it means showing up for all 5 games. We were VERY lucky this year, no rain, not for any home game. I hope we are as forunate next season.

LAFAYETTE, La. - The Troy University football team held off a late charge by Louisiana-Lafayette to maintain a three-point lead and earn its first win on the road in the Sun Belt Conference, 13-10, in front of 15,077 fans at Cajun Field in Lafayette on a cold Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans (6-4, 4-2 Sun Belt) jumped to a 10-0 lead in the first half and extended it to 13-0 early in the third quarter, but the Ragin' Cajuns (4-6, 2-4 Sun Belt) cut the lead to three in the fourth quarter only to be stalled three times by the Troy defense.
"It was a heck of a college football game," Troy head coach Larry Blakeney said. "Anyone could have won this thing, and we were fortunate to come out of here with a victory. I challenged the defense, personally, late in the game. They were still able to go out there and drive the ball a little, but I wanted our best against their best, and we were able to stop them a couple of times there at the end to save the win."

SPECIAL TO THE MESSENGER <!--
The Trojans ran for 196 of their 296 total yards, powered by senior tailback DeWhitt Betterson's 122 yards on 27 carries. The Starke, Fla., native now has 1,016 yards on the season, making him the first back in school history to surpass the 1,000-yard mark in two seasons.
Also on the ground for the Trojans, sophomore Sean Dawkins ran for a career-high 45 yards and a touchdown on five carries. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native's previous career-high for rushing yards in a game was 36 against Utah State on Oct. 2.
Senior wide receiver Jason Samples hauled in a 13-yard pass from freshman quarterback D.T. McDowell on the Trojans' second possession of the game to make him just the fourth receiver in Troy football history to to surpass the 2,000 yard mark in career receiving yards.
The Swainsboro, Ga., native had 46 yards on three catches, giving him 2,039 career yards. He trails just Danny Grant, Vince Green and Kelvin Murdock on the all-time receiving yards list.
Senior free safety Derrick Ansley continued to make a mark on the national scene, recording his 18th career interception to place him in second nationally in career interceptions among active players.
The Tallassee, Ala., native trails Wisconsin's Jim Leonhard and Boise State's Gabe Franklin by one pick.
McDowell completed 8-of-12 passes for 92 yards, while senior running back Jermaine Richardson carried the ball six times for a gain of 25 yards.
Freshman placekicker Greg Whibbs was 2-for-2 in field-goal attempts, giving him 11 made field goals on the year and tying him with teammate Thomas Olmsted for the most field goals in a season by a Trojan since moving to Division I-A in 2001. Olmsted kicked 11 field goals in 2003.
The Ragin' Cajuns were led by quarterback Jerry Babb's 147 yards on 17-35 passing with three interceptions.
He also carried the ball 13 times for 47 yards. And a touchdown. Abdule Levier had 53 yards rushing on seven carries.
The Ragin' Cajuns wasted no time moving the football taking the first play from scrimmage 47yards on a screen pass from Babb to Kemmie Lewis.
Faulk picked off a Babb pass in the end zone a few plays later and returned it to the 33-yard line to end the early threat.
The Trojans dented the scoreboard late in the first quarter, when a 40-yard field goal by Whibbs capped a nine-play, 20-yard drive that took 4:52 off fo the clock.
Trojan freshman Leodis McKelvin did his best to increase the Trojans' lead before the end of the first quarter, but what would have been his third punt return for a touchdown, an 82-yard return, was called back on an illegal block penalty on freshman Sherrod Martin. The return marked the second for a touchdown in as many weeks that has been called back on a flag.
ULL cut the lead to three when Sean Comiskey's 27-yard field goal with 9:27 to play cut just inside the right upright to cap an 81-yard, 11-play drive that ate 5:23 off of the clock.
Troy will conclude the regular season on Saturday when they host Sun Belt rival Middle Tennessee at Movie Gallery Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
