I'm very interested to see whether the program holds a Midnight Madness practice this year. That would likely depend on the timing given that the Cajundome would need to be available. There's no doubt that there would be plenty of buzz.

In the event the Dome is not availabe when fall basketball practice begins, they should hold some type of event at Earl K. Long. It could be a joint function with the women's team. Not as nice as the Dome but better than no season beginning celebration at all. Actually Saturday morning scrimmages in October and November were often well attended at Blackham Coliseum by the die hard fans. No reason not to have those at Earl K. Long.

While I was a student here Midnight Madness was held at Blackham and it was always well attended and loud. featured both the men and women.

I agree. But, it ought to be worked out with the Cajundome... for both teams. It's a marketing thing for UL and with it being the introduction to the Marlin era. I think the Cajundome is the place.
Re: Marlin era officially underway
I'd go to Midnight Madness.
Marlin Maniacs
Re: Marlin era officially underway
I think Midnight Madness should be brought back too. Lee got it started back up and the attendance was pretty good. I will be there (as ussual) if it starts back up.
Oh....I have to add that while I am extremely excited about the Marlin hire, he throws like a sissy. At least he didn't bounce it I guess.
Re: Marlin era officially underway
4,000 trying to get into a 1000 seat arena at midnight would create much more buzz than 4,000 trying to get into a 10,000 seat arena.
The basketball party outside would be incredible.

The biggest reason: Space.
Sure, you could do it at Earl K. But done right you would have more than could fit into Earl K and would hate to have to turn people away. No reason not to have at least 3K or 4K people there - and that's a safe number. I think people would show up because of the new coach. (Blackham would work, too, but should be a second option.)

4K? After that post I knight you as an official Cajun fan......always the optimist. :D
Re: Marlin era officially underway
I would have to guess, but the last midnight madness I went to (Lee's first) maybe had 1,000. If it could be at Blackham and there's a line and some are turned away (I doubt it), then the community will see that there is a demand. I'd compare it to the new club on the street with a line wrapped around the corner to get in to give the impression that it's the place to be (when infact it's half full inside). Everyone that walks by is curious and they'll stop to check it out...We couldn't fill Blackham when the games were "Back in Blackham" a couple of years ago for game, but the atmosphere was great...Great T-shirt by the way...
