Re: DR Maggard on Shultz 7/9/2023
The SBC champion with one loss will be the G5 rep 75% of the time. A 2 loss SBC Champ will be the rep 50% of the time.
We just have to keep advancing the program.

Football...LSU goes into every season (save probably 2021 after 2020 bit them in the ass) to compete to be in the playoff for a shot. We've got ALOT of work before we can be at that expectation.
Sounds like Maggard had a good response.
Not a rival, but LSU is our biggest competitor in terms of selling our product. Our would-be-customers (alumni, students, and Acadiana citizens) cannot get enough P&G and travel to follow the Tigers in droves. 8,000 people showed up to one of our biggest games last year because half of Lafayette was either in their houses watching LSU or across the basin in Tiger Stadium. The distaste for LSU some Cajun fans have (myself included) only pushes people further towards supporting only LSU. No one cares that we have valid points about the way the state’s resources have been historically heaped on LSU or the name issue. Their favorite team is winning nattys and the court of public opinion will deem anyone who doesn’t support them as “jealous” “little brothers” or “haters.”
IMO we are better off refocusing our efforts on connecting with this community and avoiding that topic. Block out the noise. Stop the incessant ____ing matches on social media. Focus on our 1,000,001 issues.

Good advice, and an accurate evaluation of our current circumstances.

I can support this message . . .

It is true, Maggard also mentioned it in his interview with Jay. He pretty much says Marlin will be our coach as long as he wants The job…

Well, I’ll just continue my boycott of Cajuns basketball. Not that it’ll matter.
Re: DR Maggard on Shultz 7/9/2023
Predicting that before the end of the decade UL will find itself in a Natty game or have at least 2 individual performers in position to win an NCAA Champpionship

Whether I agree or not, the tarot cards and stars all aligned to CBM coming back if he wanted to. Been discussed multiple times already on this board. The “shock and dismay” by some is somewhat entertaining.
My only questions are regarding the incentive structure of the contract.
But as Solomon pondered, “Everything is meaningless”.
