Re: Reasons to be hopeful for football season
Every individual has their own timeline of readiness.
I don't think it is fair to label a fan in July.

......Lookin' back on last year we were 6-6-----If there are acceptable losses they were Georgia, Appy, and Boise----2 losses were one score differentials on the road....Idaho loss at home hurt but we won 4 of our last 6 I think......the Bowl was a could of against a much improved S Miss team...... If the O L can mature, we have the skilled athletes to put up points....fg kicker is acceptable but man we lost a great punter..... Defense lost 2 very good LBs!!!

No doubt that Coach Hall was brought in to save the patient on the operating table. Let's hope he can find some witch doctor magic in the swamp and give Davis a bionic arm in the process.
The RB position will never be an afterthought, especially if JD is unable to implement the full playbook and we have to fall back on the ugly power running game we've tried master the last few years.

This team, I believe, will progress as the season progresses. I think we need to approach this year with patience. Unfortunately, our schedule is not conducive to that. We jump in pretty quickly. I think it's vital to see some substantial cohension in week 1 against a team we should beat handledly. I don't typically buy into the rent-a-win theory of scheduling, but in this case, I think it serves a huge purpose. Having said that, SLU is coming here to win, and they have talent. We need to be ready right away.
Not many will agree here, but I think we win at Tulsa. I think we have to win at Tulsa. I think if Hud wants to turn this thing around, I think it starts in Tulsa. Completely new personnel up and down the roster, especially offensively, which is their calling card. I think we match up well defensively, and if we can sustain drives on the ground, we will win. I know for a fact the team has W next to their schedule sheet for their goals for wins this year.
Agree. Tulsa could be the pivotal game this season.

Going to be an epic ride this Fall, gentlemen. Hang on to your jockstraps.
4-8, possibly 5-7.

Well anything worse than 6/6 would be an absolute disaster.

I think 7 wins is doable

I am being careful about how I ask this, because from all accounts he is a fantastic kid, and I really hope he is a great player for the Cajuns. I have only seen him play in 4 games, all against CHS-NI. He was able to do almost nothing against them. Maybe 100 yards total for the 4 games. I recognize that he's not a one man show, but I'm a little worried he did all his damage against really sub par competition, as local 3A ball hasn't been super strong the last few years. I'm wondering, from those who have seen him play often, do you think he's a solid 1A player, or did he get his yards against weak teams?
Again, it's a question, and I'm in no way trying to bash the kid. I hope he finishes with the all time Cajun rushing record. I'm just a little skeptical at this point.
