NO.
The language in the contract must address bowl qualified (7 win) teams as opposed to bowl eligible (6 win) teams.

The link quotes an I-Bowl official stating that the I-Bowl may choose any 6 win team they prefer. I'm not sure what the agreements are with your other contingency bowls.
Re: So if we win we are in?
I am pretty sure the Sunbelt will get two teams in.
My predictions:
If Troy beats ASU and UL beats MT, then Troy and UL will be bowling.
If ASU beats Troy, regardless of what happens in the UL vs. MT game, I think ASU and Troy only get in.
Just my guess?
Re: So if we win we are in?
Papa Johns and Indy have the option of taking 6-6 belt teams. They might spring for the regional matchup if they can't get anything better.
I hear the I-bowl's short list for Tech's opponent includes Clemson, NC State, SoMiss, and Memphis.
Re: So if we win we are in?
I'm hearing we have an invite waiting for us for the Indy Bowl if we win tomorrow. The Indy bowl wants us because they feel like we will sell tickets being in traveling distance. I hope this is correct. I know we would be there in a second.
Re: So if we win we are in?
Indy Bowl officials were quoted on two Shreveport news stations last night saying they would NOT select a Sun Belt team this year. According to the report, it'll be LA Tech vs. either NC State, Clemson, Memphis or Southern Miss.

if we were to get into one of the bowls, would we find out Thursday, or would it most likely be around the beginning of next week?

I think it would be early next week, as the bowl people would need to wait on the Ark St. Troy game.

I thought they had to take a 6-6 Sunbelt team over a 6-6 team from another conference. I know that they can take any other 7+ win team over a 6-6 SBC team. Guess they don't feel too much "prestige" for the game if it is an old "Tech-USL" game (too local). I think they are dying to take someone else before us, even if we might bring a larger group than NC State (probably) or the other teams (maybe). We probably wouldn't bring more than Clemson. Not so sure how Memphis and USM would travel to Shreveport (of course one of them will be in New Orleans and will likely bring more to that game).

It cannot be NC State, Clemson, Memphis, or Southern Miss.
Per Wright Waters' conference call, no 6-6 team can trump the Belt. Says the I-Bowl contract is iron-clad.
The Shreveport media is dead wrong.
Waters sitting pretty right now.

The Indy/Papa/St. Petersburg don't have to take a 6-6 belt team. The secondary tie-ins only count for a 7 win belt team.
Right...?
*sigh* This is confusing
