We appear to finally have a huge defensive team to compete that is supposed to be big, strong and fast. I did a quick look at the roster (as posted on RaginCajuns.com) and came up with the following anticipated 2 deep roster. Remember, we used to have 230# DEs and 280# tackles that were 6'1". Now, look at what we have. I didn't include the Defensive Backs, just focusing on size. With the mentality that our Defensive Coordinator is bringing, I am expecting a defense that will kick ass this year and surprise everyone.
RDE
Terrell Richardson 6-6 252
Jeremy Cook 6-5 250
LDE
Hall Davis 6-6 262
Chris Lanaux 6-2 244
DT
LaQuincy Williams 6-3 299
Jermaine Robgers 6-5 288
DT
Seth Adams 6-4 297
Lanier Coleman 6-5 296
SLB
Grant Fleming 6-3 232
Jonathan Vance 6-2 224
MLB
Brent Burkhalter 6-0 235
Richard Brooks 6-2 235
WLB
Antwyne Zanders 6-2 220
Daylon McCoy 6-0 215

Just glancing over, in general I believe our team overall height and weight has gone up since Bustle 1st started. Again, if these are accurate.
Geaux UL! _
Yes, they are accurate.
Re: 2008 UL Football Roster
As I look at this roster and looking at pics from practice, I'm about to jump outta my chair with excitement!!!
Re: 2008 UL Football Roster
We sure do look better on paper. Now lets see if it translate to the field and the win/lose record.
Re: 2008 UL Football Roster
But yet Chris Richard is listed as 185? He was listed coming in as 205. I thought by seeing him last year that he was closer to 205 than 185 but oh well. I still need to get there and see some of these guys to believe those weights. I hope they are truly accurate. I saw Grand Fleming not long ago and he didn't look 232 but I sure would like to see him there and I think he can play at that weight with his frame and lose nothing.

I noticed that the size and weights used on Scout are different from those used by UL on Ragincajuns.com. When Scout does their depth chart analysis following the first scrimmage this weekend, I hope they will refer to the offical UL depth chart, which is where my figures came from. We need to all be consistent. I also hope the UL Media Guide is released shortly and has all of the updated sizes and weights of the players.

And for those of us Ragin Cajun fans wanting to know how many are Louisiana local on the roster, here goes.
Of the 99 players listed, 56 cite Louisiana as their home state.
I have not checked other universities but, I doubt that there is a overwhelmingly larger percentage. Also listed are 8 from a 4-6 hour drive of Lafayette.
The Ragin Cajuns will win with local products. _
...and non local "products".

The Scout Roster is not complete yet, I'm updating as go I through this next week. But I was present when a lot of these athletes checked in last Sunday and talked to some of these guys on the first day Monday.
Jaron Odom measured out at 6-7, not 6-8 and Fleming told me he weighed 225, Zanders 230 and Brooks 230. Ian Burks is not 6-5, but 6-2 and Chris Fisher told me he weighed in at 290. Also, Lanier Coleman is not 6-5, but 6-3,299 pounds. He would have to grow 2" over the past year at 22 years old. So, I'm going with what I know to be accurate and others I will check on this week.

Re: 2008 UL Football Roster
Seems there are 79 guys listed at 6 feet or taller.
Then there is the curious case of Rodney Gillis.
To the best of my calculations he is 6 feet 7 inches tall. ;)
