Did you see when the cajuns tried to run option down the line of scrimmage. They couldn't. The defensive line blew the O-Line back into the option. As a former O-line coach, I know what to look for in an offense. This is the weakness of the cajuns. The strength is the D-fence and the special teams. If you disagree, you don't know football.
By the way, if you are wondering why I am not in coaching any more, it is because my family wanted to eat every once and a while.
I didn't see the game so I can't argue with you.Quote:

What I do know is this, because several were out all fall, the O-Line did't get to pratice together as a unit till the week leading up to the game.
I also know it takes time for a line to gel so based on what I know and what you know. I still can't argue with you.
Where would be a good spot for us visiting Tech fans to tailgate?
Turbine speaks the truth. The O-Line is a special unit. They must get the cadence right, know their assignments, etc. The USC game Saturday, they got out manned on several plays. When your O-Line gets blown back into the option, that says you are weak.
On the RB getting over a 120yds rushing on the night, if you watch the game, most of his big gains were cut backs. This is talent, not the O-Line blocking. He is a good back. It is not easy to change holes and go the opposite way the play was designed.
peace out
Oh and also #31 Starting F/S David Prater participated
Nice catch Scout, I took that info off the official site but it appears they missed one as well as me. :(
Cajun tom- a real Cajun fan can tailgate anywhere, but a real clumsy Cajun fan (me) shouldn't tailgate on gravel if he values his unskinned knees.
To the Tech fan, it looks to me like any place that you can find with grass is ok to tailgate on. Personally, im thinking about tailgating next to congress under one of the new oaks they just planted.
LOL, I did see the game and you are correct, That aspect of the offense did not work and needs addressed. However, as a whole the line did a good job. The run blocking and pass protection on roll outs was very good. The option and pocket passing needs improvement. We will get there. This game was/is something to build on. Bottom line it was a loss and should make our team even more hungry for a victory.Quote:

Went by there yesterday but was driving and could not take a good look, do you know how many were planted? I always thought shrubs should be planted and line the fence on Bertrand.Quote:

"Where would be a good spot for us visiting Tech fans to tailgate?"
Please come by the Oak tree across from Luther's on Bertrand and say hello to the Folks there at some point. Many of the people on this board tailgate there and we usually have a pretty good supply of food and drinks.
:D
That is the point of my posts. I want what's best for the cajuns. I will point out their weeknesses and point out the positives. As far as the roll out passing, the reason for roll outs are to run away from an aggressive def. We did a good job with roll outs. That is the easiest block in football. The easiest. All you have to do is step to the play side, open your hips and get your ___ facing the play. Its called a fan block. Once again, the O-line is the achilles heel of the team.
"I hope our fans treated you well if you were there in person."
I attended the game and your fans were fantastic. I have never been treated nicer in an opponents venue. They were very kind to us before the game and afterwards quite a few complimented us on the performance of our team. It was one of the best road trips that I have made. One thing that really surprised me was how knowledgeable your fans were about our Coach and team. Good luck for the rest of the season and I hope the Cocks go undefeated.
Geaux Cajuns, Geaux Gamecocks!
Another Coach's opinion:
"They (the Cajuns) controlled the line of scrimmage on both side of the ball all night."
(Lou Holts on the USC post game show)
I was in D.C. for the game. The ESPN Zone there happened to be carrying the game, so me and my dad were able to catch it there. I was very impressed with the way this team played. The two Gamecock fans there were very impressed with our team. They were very nervous heading into the 4th quarter as Travis seemed to be running better. It was a great game and I hope we beat those Dawgs this Saturday.
How could you control the Off. side of the ball when your offense didn't even score. How can you say the defense controlled the ball when we allowed 14 pts. If Lou Holtz said this, he knows that a SEC team like the Gamecocks are terrible. Lets be realistic, anyone can see the USC will maybe win 5 games. This is the 2nd to worst team in the SEC.
I'm starting to question Lou Holtz's credibility.
TACKLES (UA-A):
Roberts, James 7-3
Prater, David 1-6
Delesdernier, M 5-0 & 2 sacks
Floyd, Antonio 3-1
Spann, Antwain 3-1
Williams, W. 3-0
Benson, George 3-0
Taylor, Daniel 2-1
Thomas, Ricky 2-1
James, Derace 2-1
Brupbacher, R. 2-1
Bass, Travis 1-2
Kwarteng, E. 2-0
Fenton, Terryl 2-0
Carter, Jerell 2-0
Calais, Ricky 0-2
Simon, Wes 1-0
Batiste, D. 1-0
Comiskey, Sean 1-0
Smith, Stanley 0-1
Lamy, Patrick 0-1
Adams, Michael 0-1
Even I know he is speaking about what he expected vs what he saw. He obviously expected to totally dominate every facit of the game, and compared to what he expected the Cajuns dominated.Quote:

What do the stats stand for? Is it solo and assisted tackles? Do they keep stats on missed tackles?
Mad Dog between the 20's isn't bad, but I like Marshall of Defense.
Couldn't agree with you more.
:D Solo/assist Chuck.
Yep. UA = Unassisted (solo) tackles, A= Assisted tackles.:D
<center><b>Smothers & Lamy tabbed Sun Belt Players of the Week</b> <table border=6><td><img src="http://www.ragincajuns.com/football/Images/smothers.jpg"></td><td><img src="http://www.ragincajuns.com/football/Images/Lamy.jpg"></td><tr><td><center>Travis Smothers</td><td><center>Patrick Lamy</td></table></center><blockquote><p align=justify>LOUISIANA La. - Ragin' Cajun running back Travis Smothers and whip safety Patrick Lamy were named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively, for their efforts this past Saturday at South Carolina.
Smothers made an impressive I-A college football debut. With brother Warrick Dunn in attendance, Smothers notched 113 yards on 19 carries. He became the first Cajun to top 100 yards rushing in a game since Jerome Coleman rumbled for 159 yards at Idaho on Oct. 20, 2001, a span of 16 games without a 100-yard performance.
With three seconds remaining in the first half, the Cajuns Michael Adams blocked Josh Brown’s 29-yard field goal attempt. Lamy scooped-up the ball and raced the length of the field untouched for a touchdown which tied the game at 7-7.
Lamy’s 89-yard blocked field goal return for a touchdown is the longest defensive touchdown return for the Cajuns since Ron Irvin returned an interception 90 yards at Arkansas State on Nov. 5, 1977. In fact, there are only two returns in school history longer than Lamy’s, Irvin’s 90-yard jaunt and Luther Perrin’s 105-yard interception return vs. Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 9, 1934.
The blocked field goal return for a touchdown is the first in Sun Belt Conference history.
The individual Sun Belt weekly honors are the eighth and ninth for Louisiana. It also marks the second time that the Cajuns have captured two individual awards in one week. Eric Rekeita and Sean Comiskey were named offensive and special teams players of the week, respectively, on Nov. 11, 2002. No Cajun has been named Sun Belt Player of the Week more than once.
The Cajuns are still in search of their first Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week winner.<center><p><a href="http://www.ragincajuns.com/football/Stories/2003/090103twofbpow.htm"><i><b>LOUISIANA SI</a>
