I played organized baseball for 20 years on several levels and have never once heard of a batter "putting the ball in play so the other team's defense can make errors". What does that even mean? Is trying to cause the defense to make errors an actual strategy?
Regarding Corbello, fans have been hard on her lately, but I trust Coach Lotief is making the correct lineup decisions.
Sara Corbello had a walk-off walk and a huge momentum-turning hit in the post-season.
Sara could've hit 2 homers yesterday, and we would've lost.
Some of you don't want to believe me. A strategy of softball is having a bat off the bench to pinch hit in any spot in the lineup. Players can re-enter so the pinch hitter is used a lot more often. We needed a traditional hitter when Fernandez came up the other day. Felps was able to pinch hit and Fernandez re-enter. The first hitter off the bench is more important than the 8-hole hitter in softball.
FYI - some of the girls that are on the team read this forum! What confidence boosters you guys are! Do you all really think that they are not trying? Yes, some are struggling but I can tell you that these girls are the hardest workers I know. Do you think they would have gotten to be one of the top 8 teams in the NATION if they weren't? These young ladies should be congratulated for what they have accomplished, not beat up for what they haven't. If you can't write something nice, please don't comment at all! Let's support this team with positive thoughts and let them know that we are proud of them no matter what the outcome is.
I didn't realize Captain Obvious posted here.
Supp, I've seen plenty of encouragement in this thread along with some minor but fair criticism.
All natural results from a high stakes loss.
They'll bounce back just fine regardless of what's said here.
Players should not read a FAN (short for fanatic) forum.
Players with thin skin should especially stay away.
I can assure you that athletes of this caliber will not be discouraged in any way by someone on this board typing a critique of their performance.
This is high stakes collegiate athletics; sometimes, not for the weak at heart.
I love it when people tell me what I can and can't say.
