I played organized baseball for 20 years on several levels and have never once heard of a batter "putting the ball in play so the other team's defense can make errors". What does that even mean? Is trying to cause the defense to make errors an actual strategy?Quote:

Some of you don't want to believe me. A strategy of softball is having a bat off the bench to pinch hit in any spot in the lineup. Players can re-enter so the pinch hitter is used a lot more often. We needed a traditional hitter when Fernandez came up the other day. Felps was able to pinch hit and Fernandez re-enter. The first hitter off the bench is more important than the 8-hole hitter in softball.Quote:
