And let's not pretend it's just about all the other players you mentioned. Your comments began with Lockridge not getting his chance and suggesting the best SS wasn't even on the field, but sitting on the bench. Not only has Lockridge not hit, his defense was putrid early which lead the staff to put Windham in the lineup.
I'm done with this stupidity! You have your opinions, leave the personal garbage out of them.

I"m the one who said it, but that's not what i said. If i remember correctly(at the time Cantrelle wasn't hitting, at all), i suggested giving Lochridge a shot at the SS position as its the position he grew up playing. What did we have to lose at the time?
Windham was given time to play when Lochridge came down with the flu, then a relapse. His bat got hot and would probably still be playing if not for the season ending injury.
While i admit he isn't tearing the cover off the ball, he is doing what he can to help the offense, as in laying down a sac bunt last night, giving Cantrelle an opportunity to drive in runs, which he did.
As far as his defense goes, I've seen him make fantastic plays. Errors will occurs, especially at third base. I'll say it again, its a hard position to play.

Here is the deal, we are comparing kids on this years team to the 2014 team and sometimes to the 2000 team. Lets stop the madness and see that this program has declined to an unacceptable level.

I believe the comparison is made to the desired standard in an attempt to demonstrate the level of decline.

The most intelligent post so far in this thread. Thank you. We can win 70% of our games the remainder of the regular season and still have to win the conference tournament. That's the reality. Declined is an understatement.

Southern Miss is a very close comp and made every regional from 2003 through 2011, then missed 4 in a row. They were transitioning from Corky Palmer to Scott Berry due to Coach Palmer's health problems. USM has made the last three regionals and will likely make one this season. Declines are almost inevitable for one reason, or another. I still think Robe will fix this, but if not, someone else will.

You really believe Talbot passed up a big pay raise? Houston wasn’t willing to out-pay UL? Maybe they contacted him to discuss something, but I’m not buying we got someone they really wanted who has no local glue holding him here.

Joe, I'm pretty much done with it period. In the interest of moving on. I won't rehash what you or anyone else has stated in previous threads. I've read through them this morning.
My beef is not with the suggestions that certain players are giving more opportunity to work things out in the lineup. It's clear now that Cantrelle and Lott both have, and it was the right thing to do in the long run. It's the insinuation by certain individuals that Cantrelle gets his way in all matters with this team, not just staying in the lineup when he was struggling. Yet, his teammates voted him a team captain and he plays hard every night.
I know a few parents as well, including Cantrelle's dad and Logan Savoy's mom. I also talk to former players too on occasion, so I hear things as well. And most of all, I have my own relationship with Coach Robichaux and speak to him when I can. While I don't attest to know everything, I know enough to separate personal snipes from fact. If Lockridge was sat because of the flu, it wasn't something discussed publicly. Regardless, he hasn't done a thing with the bat in his starts since. I hope that changes for him, because that means the lineup with be deeper and the team will score more runs.
Bottom line, it didn't need to be a ____ing match between Cantrelle or Lockridge. But someone made it very personal, he can deny it all day long. Thanks
Re: Can someone splain me what happened to our once-poud baseball program?
......Or were we playing over our heads only to revert to the mean later? We shall see and I don't know. We sure looked bad Friday and Saturday. There are plenty that think the first half was no fluke. If they really are as good as they played yesterday, they dug themselves a huge hole the first 28 games.
Advancing to a regional now depends on 4 games in May. By the team's own standard, that is not good.

Just so we are clear, the 4 regionals in a row was when Palmer got sick and had to hand over the program?
