2016: LA the new "official" abbreviation for stats, crawls, etc

No, from everything I heard we will continue to use UL. LA will be used only for the scoreboard, tickers, print abbraviations, etc.

That is not set in stone. This is a topic of discussion and a decision has not yet been made. But it's likely we continue to use UL.

Step in the right direction. We are already inconsistent with all the other names. LA and Louisiana is 10000% better than UL-LAF and UL-Lafayette.

For what it's worth, the Alden Report does say to stop using UL. They say Louisiana and LARC (LA) only.

UL can still be referred to by the fans and media when speaking and on our unies while LA and Louisiana used for print and tickers. All these schools like Texas, Tennessee, Maryland, Michigan, etc pretty much do it this way.

Then I would definitely not agree with the Alden report on that issue. LARC is not something that should ever be even considered as a name alternative.

I agree, though I'm sure Alden's people were not aware of the LARC organization here. LA seems to be a compromise.

Plus, no one really puts their mascot in the abbreviation.

Though I have to say, LSUFT has a nice ring to it...
