Exactly....I think you said it best, I'm at peace with it. Coach has elevated our program to heights I didn't think possible. Also, 100% trust Dr. Maggard. If/When our HC job opens up I believe his phone will be ringing off the hook. It bittersweet, hate to loose CBN, but excited for the future too.
With the money he made at Florida, he will likely take some time off before plotting his next step. These guys with the mega bucks contracts don't typically jump too quickly to their next gig, after being fired.
I won't comment on Billy leaving or staying. He deserves whatever he decides to do.
Napier has given UL everything we wanted in our football program. Class, integrity, national recognition, consistent winning and pride in our football program and University.
There are too many openings for him not to get a top offer and all that he wants in a new position. We will abide by whatever you decide Coach Napier, we are grateful for what you have done.
Guys. He hasn't left yet....
And he will reward us with a 2 for 1, the 1 coming in the inaugural season at the new Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium for the first sellout in years . . .
. Stop.
Napier will take the FL job I got it confirmed for a trusted source.
One thing coach Napier DID NOT SAY this morning on Scott Prathers show was "My job is not finished here". That was a big red flag to me. Fellas, he is gone to Florida. At least it's not LSU A&M BR. The reason I say Florida and not LSU is if you have a choice between living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana or anywhere in Florida what are you going to choose. Let's see now......that would be Florida. A state with no person income tax versus third world Louisiana.
This is supposed to happen. With the exception of softball (where you can legitimately play for a national championship here) (and maybe baseball), we should want all of our coaches to make great contributions to our school, then move on to better financial rewards. (Unless and until, we can offer the same financial rewards and opportunities).
I think the best thing that can happen for our programs is for every up and coming coach to think that this is a place where you can win big and launch your career.
