Please put special emphasis on the weeknight games where we used our two best pitchers.
Thanks, Z.
"what happened this year is that we were 1)winning, 2)playing better teams then alcorn state and bethune cookman, and 3 were in the middle of a race for a championship. I think our attendance will be up next year with the teams that are coming here and the overall talent level of this class could have us looken for a shot next season too."
The time has again come for fans to come out to see the Cajuns play no matter who the competition is. I enjoy marquee games as much as anyone, but the best team that has played in the dome this year has been the Cajuns and they appeared 11 times plus the 2 exibitions. That should be enough reason for fans to show up.
I more then anything want this to happen, and I want people to go to games for the cajuns, but in most mid-major markets, if your not playing decent competition, Fair-weather fans wont be there. I want people to be there every game more then anything, because it creates an intimidating enviroment, but the facts are that UL still has a huge amount of Fair-Weather fans, and unlesss the 3 things I mentioned are happening, the Fair-Weathers wont come out.

LAFAYETTE — It’s kind of like being on the short end of the score in the Super Bowl. All of a sudden, everyone asks if it’s possible to bounce back.
When Louisiana lost its season finale to Western Kentucky, 69-66, last Wednesday before a national audience on ESPN2, it decided the regular season champion in the Sun Belt Conference.
It also snapped a 21-game home win streak for the Ragin’ Cajuns and obscured a season of achievement as they head into this week’s Sun Belt Tournament.
“We beat a Top 10 team at Mississippi State, we won 20 games and we repeated as champions of the Sun Belt West Division,” coach Jessie Evans said. “That’s pretty good.
“I always see the glass as half-full, not half-empty. I accentuate the positive. If we give 40 minutes, playing the best that we can possibly play, we’ve proven we can get the job done.”
The Cajuns, who won 10 of their last 12 games, were looking for plusses after the disappointing loss to WKU, which is the heavy favorite as host of the Sun Belt Tournament.
“The only positive is that we go back to the drawing board and work on the things we need to improve,” Evans said.

“The Western game was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the good out-weighed the bad, but we still had too many turnovers, took quick shots and missed free throws. We weren’t able to keep them off the boards.
“In the second half, we just did not make enough good plays.”
The Cajuns seemed too excited for the game, abandoning smarter plays and giving in to the hyped scene attended by a season-high 9,121 fans.
Considering the way they played defense on the defending champions in the first half, the Cajuns could have had a bigger lead than the 7-point, 35-28 edge they enjoyed at the break.
“I was disappointed,” Evans said. “I thought we at least should have been ahead by double digits. We should have had a more significant cushion.”
For a veteran team like WKU, which starts four seniors with sparkplug sophomore point guard Patrick Sparks, 35-28 wasn’t much of an obstacle. Within 7 minutes, they had knotted the contest at 42-42 and it was a battle from that point.
“We’ve got to do a better job of blocking out on the boards,” said Cajun senior Khadim Kandji. “We were kind of soft inside. We just didn’t play physical.”
Western Kentucky out-rebounded the Cajuns 43-30, benefitting from damaging fouls called on Cajun center Michael Southall. He fouled out with 5:20 still to play and was only able to be on the floor for 26 minutes.
“We’ve got to do a better job on the boards,” Evans said. “Our players were taking a step back upcourt, expecting a shot to go in, rather than going for the rebound. We tell our players that they have to play every shot to miss, and that’s something we’ve gone over with them.
“I’d like at least 25-35 touches inside per game, and we didn’t get that. Not only Mike, but our inside players in general have to work harder to seek the basketball. He has to continue to be aggressive in wanting the ball.”
When the Cajuns are effective in feeding the middle, they can work a better offense. Evans noted that his inside players average some 5-6 assists per game.
There are other such situations to fix, but a 20-win team operates from strength.
“We got it out of our system Friday and Saturday in practice,” said Evans, whose team plays Saturday against the Arkansas State-Denver winner from Friday’s feed-in round.
“We don’t concern ourselves with who wins that game,” Evans said. “We know that in order to make it to the championship game, you have to win two games. I don’t have a preference.
“Obviously, we have to recover from the loss to Western Kentucky and try to get back on track.”
CAJUN CLIPPINGS — The Cajuns are 10-1 on Saturdays, 1-0 on Mondays and 2-0 on Tuesdays this year, the days they would play in the SBC tourney to reach a rematch with WKU in the finals ... the last time WKU hosted the Sun Belt Tournament in 1994, Michael Allen led the Cajuns to a 78-72 win over the Hilltoppers in the finals ... no host team has won the Sun Belt Tournament since 1991.

Game time only. Louisiana basketball on the Internet
For the last few weeks Trigger74 has been lobbying for Louisiana's basketball tournament games to be broadcast instead of baseball.
Seems he was successful. I am sure many out of towners thank you.
