Re: Real Time Swamp Floor Happenings
I seem to recall there was something else, sort of like a pad, that was to be laid before the actual playing surface. That does not seem to be the case. What appears in the small photo looks like tha actual playing surface, cause I see what looks like yardage lines. :???::???::???:

If you look close, it looks like the pad is under the turf.
If they do like they did here, they'll put down the pad and, gradually just unroll the turf on top of what padding they finished and let it sit. We theorized is that they wanted it unrolled so that it would be easier to lay flat later.

Thanks, Doc!! My eyesight, even with me wearing "cheaters" is not the best. So, I appreciate information from someone who is knowledgeable. I should also add capable, because I have never met/run into a better "sandbagger" ( that is not a derogatory statement, but one of high praise).

Note: They have also added a few photos to the photo gallery on that page and they are almost in color. :-)

Re: Real Time Swamp Floor Happenings
What you are seeing this afternoon (6/19) is the turf between the 45's on top of the underlayment on top of a thin geotextile on top of the limestone base. It looks like the south portion of the turf has been pulled over on to itself to facilitate the next width of turf to be installed to the south (tunnel) end of the field. Just a guess on my part though.

Yeah looks like they just rolled it back to be able to fit the other rubber stuff underneath. Im going to have to pass by later cause that just doesnt look green enough from the camera...
Re: Real Time Swamp Floor Happenings
Lots of work being done tonight 6/19. They are working their way to the north (scoreboard) end zone.
Re: Real Time Swamp Floor Happenings
Just got back from the field. I don't think that is the turf that will be installed. I thing that piece was layed down just for alignment. I have pictures and will load them shortly.

Thanks Frenchie, great stuff. I took a few pictures yesterday with my phone (all I had with me) to show people just the type of turf this is. It's got strands just like real grass and once they add the sand in it's going to be very very nice... here they are:

Looks as if it needs mowing already.
One industrial mower for sale.
