Thanks, SwampFox, you have the best ongoing compilation of Louisiana commitments on the web.
with alot of help from my friends
I believe the mid year JC signees count on the current years class (2002) providing they graduate from JC.Quote:
"You can also sign "midyear replacements" (JUCO kids or eary graduating high schools seniors) which count towards your next academic year counters."
Ragoo, Guru, anyone????? Do we still have the McCray kid from Baytown??
The UH board says he committed to the Cougs on the 19th.
Any word?
Thanks, Z.
According to a report on Rivals, Devin Williams has committed to the Cajuns!
<blockquote><p align=justify>Advertiser-Dan McDonald
Louisiana coach Rickey Bustle and staff have put together an impressive recruiting class.
LAFAYETTE — Louisiana's football coaching staff has no intention of ending its recruiting season early.
But if the Cajun staff called a halt to its efforts right now — almost two weeks before the Feb. 5 national signing day — it would still be considered a successful recruiting season.
The season has already paid tangible benefits to the Ragin’ Cajun program, with eight new faces already enrolled for the university’s spring semester and slated to take part in spring drills with the returning members of the Louisiana squad.
That group includes six junior college players who were Cajun mid-term signees, and two high school players who, because of special circumstances, could enroll immediately and get a jump on their prep brethren.
“It’s a huge advantage for guys to be here in the spring,” said Cajun head coach Rickey Bustle earlier this month. “They get a chance to learn the system, and they get to know their teammates and start building chemistry with each other.”
<center><p><a href="http://www.theadvertiser.com/sports/html/ED95867E-BEA2-4D46-B508-AFAD40789D12.shtml">The rest of the story</a><!--
They also provide a lesser-noticed benefit to the squad. Since they are already enrolled, they do not count against this year’s maximum of 25 scholarship signees. They actually count against last year’s total, and Louisiana's staff had room in last year’s numbers to accommodate the eight new signees.
The juco group includes three offensive players — fullback Travis Cones, center Ed Fane and wide receiver Kemmie Lewis – and three defensive players — tackle Darryl Blappert, linebacker Joseph Scott and defensive back Ricky Thomas.
Blappert, Scott and Lewis are from Mississippi junior colleges, Blappert and Scott from Pearl River and Lewis from Jones, while Cones played at Navarro (Texas), Fane at Orange Coast (Calif.) and Thomas at Butler (Kansas).
One of the two early prep arrivals is nearby product Will Chance, a 290-pound offensive tackle from Cecilia who earned his high school degree one semester early.
The other, 6-foot-8, 295-pound offensive lineman Brandon Cox of Irving, Texas-Nimitz High, was a Cajun signee last year but did not meet test score requirements for initial eligibility. Instead of sitting out, Cox did not enroll in college and achieved his test scores this fall, making him eligible to participate immediately.
Last February’s signee class had two other players who did not meet the NCAA’s minimum academic standards. However, linebacker Rashon Brown of Shreveport-Captain Shreve and defensive back Jarvis Murchison of Jasper, Texas-Jasper are both enrolled in their second semester this spring and figure to regain full eligibility by the fall.
Brown and Murchison will count against this year’s maximum recruit numbers if they complete academic requirements.
The list of players who have issued verbal commitments to ink with the UL Lafayette program on signing day currently includes two more junior college prospects and 11 prep standouts. The two juco players must complete the spring semester at their junior colleges.
Two previously-committed prep players – defensive back Marcus Ross of Houston-Sterling and linebacker Josh Lancaster of Colleyville, Texas-Heritage, have since given verbal commitments to other schools.
If all the remaining commitments wind up as signees on Feb. 5 and Brown and Murchison become eligible, that puts this year’s Cajun class at 15 signees, nearing the NCAA maximum of 25. It’s that 15 number that Bustle and his staff will seek to increase in the next 11 days before recruiting contacts are shut down two days before national signing day.
The UL Lafayette staff will host approximately a dozen recruits this weekend and a smaller number the following weekend in its final major groups of recruiting visits.

Brown must be a saftey at 6-3 205
Z,
It seems alot of schools are after McCray so if he has not changed his mind (and I have not heard anything saying he has) it will still be tough to keep him on board but I think we can. I seem to remember hearing he is visiting this weekend but could be wrong.
On a different note, it was good to see that
Rashon Brown, LB, 6-3, 215, Shreveport-Captain Shreve
Jarvis Murchison, DB, 5-9, 175, Jasper, Texas-Jasper
are enrolled and may be eligible this fall. According to many, these two (along with Babb) were our best recruits last year.
