Back in the day the area where Griffin and Rougeou Halls are was called Little Abbeville. It was a collection of World War II buildings used to instruct those in the military V12 (I think) program. Where Fletcher Hall is, was the Baseball Field. Beyond that was the hinterlands that was married student housing, maintenance, the male dorms and Martin Dining hall.Quote:

It's on St. Mary close to Johnston. It's behind the Burger King. I've wondered this for 6 years, since I was a freshman.
I am pretty sure that it was an apartment/house----but next door was the home of about 6 of us senior f-ball players who had just moved of campus when our careers were over---Some VERY SERIOUS parties were held at this location!!!!Quote:

It seems like it'd be a perfect place for a little convince store. Something that sells cigarettes, snacks and drinks, maybe even cold sandwiches and stuff. It seems like you can only get Coke products on campus, even in Follet's. With as many people that pass right there, bet somebody could make a killing.

Replacing poor soils under the area of the old Credit Union building. the soil was full of debris. This could be a change order if they were not anticipating this. You never know what to expect when you start digging in the ground. They were hauling dirt today in anticipation of rain tomorrow.

I don't know about Berkel ground piles or anything like that, all I know is that they moved in a big ole crane this afternoon. I's assume they're about to start driving some foundation piles in.
Lots and lots of work today, February 6, 2011. They had the light towers on last night and were working on Dorm No. 1 foundation.
Clock wise from left, Auger for auger cast piles, Foundation pad for Dorm No. 1 almost ready for rebar, Dust suppressor, Bancroft demolition, more plumbing and foundation work for dorm no. 1, and in the middle on the bottom, carpenters preparing form work.

Dust suppressor, If it's not raining they use this to help with the dust, Yesterday there was a dust cloud over University Ave almost all afternoon.

Rebar recycling, almost all the metal, concrete and brick will be recycled. This is where much of the profit is in demolition.

BFDBH at work, if they had more room to work, these two buildings would have been demolished in a little over a week. Once they get Bancroft down then they will have much more room to work.
