Of course he would be perceived as such. He didn’t have a deep connection as all other HCs the program has had. He was here as a business decision first and foremost. Knowing people on a deep basis that was developed prior to getting the job did not feed the warm and fuzzy feeling softball has at UL. That connection has been a staple of UL softball and made it unique.
If CAH wasn’t one of us, there would be a whole lot more complaining. Granted the situation wasn’t made by her, but some want to give her 3 years grace. Thats the hometown discount, an outsider wouldn’t get that blessing. CGG would never get that, he even had to plow and produce in a very dark personal season for himself.

Yep, that was about as dark as it gets!

Pitching: D (Some bright spots but mostly inconsistent across the board from struggling to throw strikes, walks, hitting batters, making poor decisions once the ball is hit to a pitcher to not backing up the bases, etc. It has been bad)
Hitting: D (For the most part the folks that should be hitting haven't and a few have been pleasent surprises. Lack of clutch hitting and power is very evident. Also way too many slappers who can't drive the ball or get a bunt down)
Defense: D (Lack of athleticism shows in plenty spots. With the pitching staff so bad it gives the defense more opportunities to make errors. Also lack of knowing what to do with the ball once it is hit to them is frustrating)
Baserunning:F(Numerous base running mistakes, leaving early etc. The worse part is key pinch runners making most of these mistakes)
Coaching: C (Lack of experience with decisions making is hurting. They are making the most of what they have with what they have)
This off season will be critical to the future of the program. I believe some tough decisions will need to be made with the roster.
Agree with most of what is said. Disagree slightly with opinion the coaching staff is making the most of what they have with what they have.
The questionable situational decisions and base-running mistakes are something staff has to own, and when you aren’t loaded with talent, those issues are highlighted more.
And while I realize it may not be a difference maker, there have been some lineup changes that need(ed) to occur (Stutes needs to play!).
At this point, just want to see team compete and play with a lot of heart and effort rest of the way. And they’ve done that to this point overall.

What I mean by making the most of what they have is playing small ball and trying to push the envelope on the bases. For the most part it really hasn't worked much.

True.
At the same time, though, we can't expect to be beating those programs that do have more available money and NIL to throw around. This is unfortunately a different age in college athletics. I blindly (blissfully?) thought this would only apply to football and basketball, despite others on here warning me otherwise. They were correct, and the results are showing.

Agree with this.
And this accusation of Coach Glasco was an a-hole and that was his problem...well so was his predecessor Mike Loteif. Many of your top, competitive head coaches in sports come off as such, even if it's not their true personality.
Regardless how he left or what transpired to that happening, Coach Glasco came to our program when many of us were worried with what would happen after Loteif's firing and the team raided about as much as a roster could be raided in the pre-portal and NIL era.
Then yes, having to deal with the tragic loss of his daughter, who was a genuine good person and enjoyed working with young, aspiring athletes. But some folks in in the UL/USL softball circle didn't like him Day 1 and had no desire to try to like or respect him.

BT, DT. I have a deeper appreciation of the job he did that year. That is a walk only unfortunate parents understand.
The opportunity to coach with his daughter Tara at TTU was icing on the cake. I’m surprised he stayed as long as he did after the accident.

He could have retired after that tragedy and no one would have said a thing about it.
But, he didn't and screwed us over right before his top recruiting class would be seniors. A hole.

Can tell you, being occupied doing something when that happens is paramount to getting thru that. I use to think why he didn’t quit then until we were in his shoes.

I honestly don't really care how any of our programs do now-a-days. I went from Cajun athletics diehard to completely apathetic. Maybe I'll come back around if the country decides to put commonsense regulations on NIL and transfer portal.

Re: Softball mid season report card.
So I am relatively new to supporting the program. I used to love watching them when I was at USL in the 90's. There is an old saying that goes, "Today is the only day. Yesterday is gone." I knew coming into this season as a new supporter that it would have ups and downs due to their player loses and experience. Yes they may not have been the strongest most consistent team, but they have showed a lot of heart! Today this is our team, not what was here yesterday so I think with the new coaching staff, young nucleus of players, and hopefully a solid recruiting class this will be a great foundation to continue this winning program. I also think we need to support those girls that stayed with us here at UL and did not chase the $$$ or whatever it was, because they have been part of that past success and now great leaders for the younger players. I would also like to say these girls go out of there way to involve young fans, they have shown great character on and off the field and with adversity, and this is something that need to be acknowledged and give kudos to the coaches and players. They truly make our university proud in that aspect!

Re: Softball mid season report card.
I'm not a big softball strategy guy, I just run the scoreboard for our school & follow the Cajuns. I didn't personally know Coach Glasco but when he'd see me in public, he'd come shake my hand & be cordial. He was never an A-hole to me but all top coaches that I do know are A-holes when it comes to competition & winning. The timing of the coaching chance really hurt any chances for this season to be great. Many of the top portal players had already found a new home once Coach Aly started recruiting. Like the old saying goes, "It is what it is". However, the standard is the standard and Coach Aly will uphold that standard & expectations.

I've had the opportunity to talk to him a few times while he was here...he wasn't an A hole, but hardly someone that came across as being a "great guy, easy to talk with". Only time he opened up and talked freely was when hunting was brought up.
I called him a A hole after he gutted our program and still call him that today! We lost 3/4 of our starters and 12 players total. IMO, he should have coached that no. 1 class rather than jumping ship. Also, he signed with TT on June 20th. Our regional ended on May 19th. Why didn't he leave sooner? He was out looking for a new job while still being paid by UL. CAH was hired on June 25th. So we were rudderless for 2 months because of that fine fella. Bless his heart!
From AI generated answer: Regarding the NCAA Transfer Portal, softball players can enter during specific windows. For fall sports, including softball, the transfer window begins 7 days after the championship selections for their respective sport, and lasts for 30 days. Additionally, there is a period from May 1st to May 15th that fall sport student-athletes can use during the Spring Semester.
Diamond sports field 9 players while football fields 22. Softball allows players to re-enter the game, but it's limited. Football teams regularly play 30-40 players in a game to rest players or change strategies. Losing 3/4 of your starters in softball and your 2 top pitchers is devastation especially if your time to replace them is restricted.
Softball and Baseball have been the only 2 sports this century that actually had a shot at a national championship. This is the same for just about any mid-major due to the difference in $$ in college sports. However, that is changing quickly, probably forever with NIL. We won't see a mid-major win again unless the transfer rules change and that won't happen with the spine-less NCAA.

To be fair, I don't think he was actively seeking a job. He told Kevin Foote the week before he was named TTU HC that he was gearing up for the following season. Foote said on his show that Glasco always shot him straight. I think it was a situation that came up, he entertained the position, thought it over, and decided it was right for him, and all that happened in a week span. I cant fault the man for doing what he thought was best for him and his career.
I dont think he received much of a raise, but a job is more than your salary. I think its been established he was enticed by some hefty NIL promises, which appeared to have panned out (see NiJaree Canady)

Why did he apply at Auburn before Texas Tech if he wasn't actively seeking another job? All coaches lie at some point. Of course he would try to save face and look good on his way out.

I heard he was actively trying to get the Auburn job, well before TT signing.

You probably teased that info without actually giving it
Regardless of that, can’t fault a man for wanting more resources

I can fault a man for gutting a program that gave him his first HC job when he was 59 years old! Not staying with the no. 1 recruiting class when they were seniors...yeah, I can fault him.

We can agree to disagree.
Life goes on. I think we are in a temporary dip. Give Habetz time and we will forget about 2025 in a few years.

Regardless of the resources he was set up for a possible wcws run in 2025 at UL.

I have learned to understand both sides of this issue. If an SEC or Big 12 job opens, most of the time, would be crazy not to try and get it.
Loyalty has no presence in D1 college or professional athletics now. It’s a business, and unfortunately have to look at most coaches and players as transactional.
This summer’s transfer portal and Coach Habetz’s success or lack of in it will tell a lot about the program’s future stability.
If she keeps the train rolling and can keep the program as a consistent super regional/WCWS threat in this new environment, will arguably be the best job any coach has ever done at this school.
Same goes for baseball.
