We are in the wrong conference.
This is your opinion and completely projection at this point. Just because it will have two former PAC 12 members, we need to be part of it to raise our brand? Why? Because being in a conference with Texas St or North Texas raises our brand? We are fine in the SBC at this point and when the changes will begin, there will eventually be several super G5 Conferences just like what happens above in the P5. We will be more regionally aligned with one conference than the other.
As long as our Football program continues to win, MBB gets it right, Baseball and Softball remain relevant, we will be positioned just fine.

All trailer parks are subjective to a tornado.

Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
Football continues to win but is in a lower perceived conference and will not get us in the playoffs nor would any other SBC team. Getting our MBB back on track and dominating a one bid conference will get us a 14-16 seed each year putting us against a #1-3 seed in the first round. As much as I love baseball and softball they aren't revenue generating sports as a whole so doesn't matter if we get 5 teams in the postseason, it wouldn't be nothing financially compared to being in a league that has the team in the CFP or 4-5 teams in the NCAA Tournament every year.
Plus Texas State is probably our biggest SBC rival in softball. Them leaving would weaken the league even more and hurt our chances at ever hosting another regional. AND if the PAC takes two or so from the AAC and they pick up other SBC's schools not us, then welcome to the Southland Conference!

Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
So you're saying you'd rather be left rebuilding the SBC after a tornado hits adding a bunch of FCS schools again? It worked out last time but I honestly think we got lucky as hell.
If we were in the PAC and a tornado hit, it would probably hit the AAC too. Rebuilding with the PAC and AAC sounds much more appealing that rebuilding with FCS schools.

Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
I'm not convinced the Sun Belt Conference will endure with its current collection of universities for much longer. At some point we may have to make a move, not out of convenience, but out of necessity.

Guys…an offer isn’t coming from the PAC.

Again, this is all projection. There is no new contract agreement, it's all been speculation. Show me the money.
I got news for you, everyone below the P4 is living in trailer parks. That may not be the view you have in Colorado, but the large media packages are not at the G5 level. And outside of Oregon State and Washington St, I don't view the rest of those programs major power shakers in the G5. Our record is good over the past decade and there will not be only one major conference at the G5 level.

Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
So, take the wheels off the trailer. We're going to be here a while.

I'm looking for our school, and can't find the FDL.
Then, I see our sorry looking moniker. It looks so outdated and bush league.

Long term I don't believe it will either. And I certainly don't believe we have not been in discussions with other G5 schools looking at the possibility down the road. Eventually I believe that we will end of in a more regional conference, but nothing will move that direction until the P4 shakes out about us.
In the meantime, I don't see the need to jump ship to a West Coast Conference with losing programs because there are rumors of a much greater media rights deal. Any such move will raise the travel cost of this program exponentially and many fans are _____ing constantly on this site about the rising cost of UL athletics, but we should gamble on the new rebranded PAC whatever because loads of people will be willing to pay for the increase cost of such a move. LOL!!!!!!!!

Yea, you would be look for FDL and not at the wins. We are in the TOP of the G5 Conference. That matters, because every conference has crap programs in it. We are doing the right things; we just need to turn MBB around.

Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
Whatever dude...if you think that other members of the SBC would "stay together, stay strong!" then enjoy playing ULM, McNeese and Lamar every year.
I think a former softball player years ago said "I'd rather be a small fish in a big pond, than a big fish in a small pond any day".

We have been in one of the weakest divisions in all of the G5 for years. We better have a lot of wins.

Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
UL must be ready. At the same time, any move, if offered, must be evaluated.
For example, the PAC 2 wanted some lifeline football games last season. The Cajuns and many other “G5s” passed. There was no return on the single game.

This has been an entertaining thread (a few laughable and illogical posts), but your point at the end is so right. Must be ready.
We’ll find out soon, but it appears UL is making a Napier-like dive into MBB. This has to be sustained and is the most understated and critical part of any future movement.
More investment has to be made into football and basketball to show others school is serious (NIL being a key component).
Time will tell. History isn’t on the optimistic side.

You don't know me but go back over the last 12 years on this site and look at who discussed subjects like Primary Media Rights, 2nd Tier and 3rd Tier media rights. I guarantee you everything you hear publicly is less than a 3rd of what is actually going on. I'm all about moving this program forward, but a little common sense doesn't hurt at times.

Re: What if Louisiana to the PAC?
Would a package of Tulane, Memphis, Texas State and Louisiana to the PAC 12 with high enough revenue as determined by our AD make the move attractive or is remaining in the SBC our fate? Granted, that is a big IF scenario, but Tulane and Memphis appear to still be in talks with the PAC 12. Should UL at least enter those talks along with Texas State who appear ready to move regardless who joins them? We were left behind before and I would hate to see that happen again. No harm in at least testing the waters.

Tulane and Memphis do not want to be associated with us. Hell, they don’t want to be associated with TXST. They are holding out for a watered down ACC invitation or a possible Big12 invitation.
