Re: Shooting at KOK across from campus
I've read several innacurate news headlines associating this shooting with Louisiana's Homecoming game.
Just because it happened on the same day does not mean there is a homecoming connection.
I wonder if these innacurate headlines kept people away yesterday as if the takeaway was the UL football games are dangerous

Probably not, but this post may do that for the next game . . .

What the hell is going on in St. Martinville to cause this shenanigans?
The surrounding small towns tend to have some pretty violent criminals. Easier for them to hide out there rather than the city.

Do you really think my asking about this headline association is more damaging than the actual headline?

Re: Shooting at KOK across from campus
There are stupid people everywhere. Not just in Lafayette on a football Saturday night. The three guys were not very smart to murder 2 people and wound 2 others in front a couple of hundred witnesses. Obviously not brain surgeons.

There are violent criminals in small towns and in the city. Lots of gunshots go off in areas of Lafayette at night but the code of silence keeps it off the news.

Not so much a code of silence, but it usually takes a death to make the news. A few years back there was a shootout with allegedly 3 people shot, nobody died, west side of Lafayette. Got all the gunfire sound on my Ring, gave it to the LEOs so they knew how many casings to look for (20+). Was a case of bad guy 1 looking for bad guy 2 and they crossed paths near our home. 40 v AR, seriously out gunned. Could have been anywhere.
Been other cases of a single shot near us, but willing to bet those were at coyotes or bobcats.
Re: Non UL: Shooting at KOK across from campus
. . . sometimes the bad guys zoom by you and only a little luck will spare you from the collateral effects of random crossfire . . . I quit watching local news years ago because every night it was riddled with shooting deaths here and shooting death there occurring at random places across Acadians like we are New Orleans . . . so, so sad . . .
