Hitting coach will be the biggest hire in my opinion. That is not at the top of Alyson's wheelhouse and doesn't need to be but that hire more than any other would seem to be a top priority.

I'm assuming a pitching coach might even be higher.

Coach Glasco just reposted the announcement of Coach Habetz on his FB page with the message:

“Some things are meant to be. This is one of those.”

The guy is a class act.

Kind of makes me wonder if this was the plan all along.

I didn’t know anything about her, as I moved back here in ‘96….i enjoy softball but I don’t follow it as much as football. I read the entire announcement….wow!!! Wow, what a talent and what exciting news for Louisiana! I might just buy some season tickets.

I think we should give the girls that entered the portal a chance to change their minds. They jumped ship too soon. We can throw them a life ring and pull them back on the ship.

Maybe she can get Yvette to be an assistant or volunteer coach!

I'd treat that as the girls re-opening their recruiting.. although I have no idea if any of them have to forfeit scholarships, etc after entering the portal

Once an athlete enters the portal, all obligations by the school in regards to athletic grant-in-aide money is severed.

I wouldn't be surprised if Shelly Landry is kept as the hitting coach. Shelly learned under ML and she definitely had an impact on Cecelia V. this past season. Not sure, but keeping her on the staff may have been a prerequisite for the new coach.

Didn’t we have a basketball player last year who went in the portal, but came back? So it’s not out of the question.

I hope not, you should never tie the hands of your new head coach when it comes to staff. I hope the best for Landry, and she is more than qualified for that position. But I would leave that decision up to Coach Habetz.

Respect to Glasco on that.

He's made a couple of more supportive posts about the hire. From what I was told previously, Habetz strongly recommended Glasco for the job during the last coaching change . She wasn't ready to leave Alabama at that time due to only needing a couple more years for state retirement benefits in Alabama

Hopefully it is a win win scenario for all involved
