Cajuns holding on to 2-0 lead, bottom of 8th. Jackson St. pitcher did a good job.

Not the best offensive game by the Cajuns but I will take the win. Pitchers did their job. The other team can't win if they don't score.

Good to see LP with a dominating performance.

Ranked Troy got more empty seats than full tonight for a winnable game at home against Bama

STM Teurlings games have more fans than Troy did this weekend
Cajuns ought to be happy and appreciative of their fans

Troy lost by a run, 6-7. Had runner on 1st with fly ball hit to RCF gap. CF came over to make the grab... then double the pinch runner up at first to end the game. Eesh.

What??
That team has SEVEN guys hitting over .330 for the season and a combo of 5 of our guys combined to shut them out on 3 hits with 14 strikeouts
And MANY teams struggle with soft throwing lefties that have good change ups, good curve balls, and throw strikes. That kid for Jackson State pitched his ass off tonight. Do you remember a VERY similar Jackson St pitcher beating the best Cajun team of all time 1-0 in the regional opener in 2014?
Credit to their starter. Dude had thrown 10 innings all year and pitched the game of his life until he completely ran out of gas at 110+ pitches.
Throwing a shut out and winning by 5 runs has you the MOST UPSET you’ve ever been at a Cajuns game??
My God.
The single biggest concern after tonight should be whether or not seeing 65-80 mph for 9 innings will mess up the hitter’s timing going into Friday night.

He is talking about the 1-0 loss in the 2014 Regional to Jackson State.

No. In 2014. Not today.

Re: BB Final: Louisiana 5, Jackson State 0
this was a nice final midweek win
shutout by our pitching staff
good defensive performance
enough done with the bats to prevail
let’s now go win the last two weekend series

Re: BB Final: Louisiana 5, Jackson State 0
Cajuns at 48 in the RPI with a couple west coast games still going on. I was looking at the rankings and wondered how Texas could be at 51 with a 15-9 Big 12 record. Then I saw they are 10-8 against Q4. Yikes.

That was funny! Have a good day.
I was thinking about that game last night while we were 0-0. We had no answer for their lefty, a lot like last night. But we did grind it out. Not a perfect win, but a WIN.
Let's turn to Ga Southern now, another big series!

Re: BB Final: Louisiana 5, Jackson State 0
Our bats did not ROAR last night except when they needed to.

I know very little about the art and science of coaching baseball. It seems like there have been situations last night and through the seasons where we should try to 'manufacture' runs, by bunting, etc and we dont do it. At least not as much as when Tony was here. Is the idea of bunting and sacrificing more of a coaches philosophy or is it more personnel? It seems like we want to steal our way to runs. I also do not know if a 50ish% stealing base to caught stealing ratio is good. Doesn't seem good!

I believe the analytics philosophy says that sacrificing is wasting outs.
Also, the stealing is part of putting pressure on the defense. High risk, high reward. It’s hoping the defense makes mistakes.
I’m not a huge fan of either of those philosophies but it’s the direction baseball has gone.

We did a lot of bunting last night and a few very good ones. The pitcher was throwing a lot of slow junk. Some in the low 60’s. Was crazy! LP really smoked em in the last 2 innings. I think he was up to 96 and they couldn’t handle it. LP is a man out there!!

Re: BB Final: Louisiana 5, Jackson State 0
LP and Debo have very real opportunities of nice, long professional careers.

LP is dominant. Dude just blows people away. Reminds me a lot of Wyatt Marks in that when Wy was on, he was basically untouchable and batters looked silly.
