Exactly, and the old issues and old ideas don't work and haven't been fixed, if anything they've gotten worse. Nothing will change (dramatically) with UL attendence until they somehow fix the in-game experience. What they're doing now and have been doing has proven not to work. Just ask the 20,000 who show up every home game dressed as seats....

It really isn't though..
As others have said, beating Minnesota on the road is not going to suddenly have casuals saying: "dang they beat Minnesota!? Who they play this week!? Oh Texas State.. sweet lemme drop $100 on tickets for my family.. wonder if I know anyone who still has a tailgate spot......"
Now if they beat Minnesota they'll be on the news and in people's conversations, and THATS when you drop the "yeah and they're offering cheap tickets this weekend and a concert at CF before the game"

Spot on. I don't even look forward to home games anymore. Pregame and ingame have become stale and boring. No excitement at all. Road games are exponentially more fun.

We need to push a Southern Miss style promotion when we played them last year in Hattiesburg, for the Texas State game!
Maybe they can cancel class that day like they did in Hattiesburg. Don’t tell the students it’s Saturday just that class in canceled so you can go to the game.

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
There's an elementary school in Broussard/Youngsville (Martial Billeaud) that is teaching their entire school of kids the UL fight song for Paint the Town Red homecoming event. Principal is a big UL fan. Need more of that in all of our local schools.

It depends what you comparing to, to say its expensive. If you compare it to peer institutions we have a very good price on tickets and concessions. If you are comparing it to Lafayette high or Comeaux then yeah its expensive.

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
We need to be careful with "outside the stadium promotions" for a 3pm kickoff. It will be too enticing for some to remain outside.
My ideas?
This should a nuclear powered Fan appreciation event.
Focus on cheap tickets, cheap parking and cheap food.
"Family" the crap out of this game. Gear everything towards the kids.
As many free giveaways as possible. Should be one huge giveaway at Halftime.
Do not hassle anyone for anything.

Give free tickets to youth football league kids. They will bring parents.

This is the mistake that the school keeps making, in my opinion...
Like it or not, G5 football is low stakes to most people. To casual fans, Texas State might as well be another FCS game. If you have to explain to someone WHY a match up us important, then those tickets should be $12-15
But again, selling 25k at $12.50 is STILL more money than selling 15k at $20.... and they're INSIDE THE STADIUM.. buying beers, buying food, etc.

I consider a $6 Hot Dog expensive...I consider a $3 drink, acceptable. $9 for the two is expensive...just my cheap azz 2 cents...

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
I don’t think going cheap is the way to go either people want to come or they don’t ! We just have to find a way to for people to show up. We ain’t LSU but they charging 100 dollars a ticket and packing the stadium.
It has to be reasonable though !

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
Now I say 1 dollar beer night ? That might work lmfao

If someone is going to the game that 8 bucks don’t make a difference. If they are not “interested in the match up” a 5 dollar ticket won’t make a difference.

I believe that!! Have a place near us that does that to me. Had to ask the wife to not let me have a 2nd, and sure as heck not more unless we’re walking around Gruene for the next hour! LOL
P.S. Lots of good ideas in this thread!!

You guys keep saying this but...
They're NOT going.
Paying $100 for your family to go versus paying $50 WILL affect how many casual fans (especially families of 4+) show up.
If they're not interested in the match up, then you have to sell them on "a day at Cajun Field".. and you don't do that with $20 tickets, $6 hotdogs, and super expensive tailgating

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
How about a free post-game concert at midfield. Get Better than Ezra or cowboy mouth or some other washed up 90s band that all the white MILFs love. That should do it.

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
App just put field level seats call The Rock Garden on sale, next 4 home games.
. $150 each a game...

App has an actual fanbase that makes me jealous.

Yes, but they have no other sports to boast about or that people in Boone want to see. Football is really all they have. It's a good thing that they have such a good football following, but it's not always greener when it comes to overall athletics.

That’s not a bad idea. Promote the area football teams to come to the game. From West St. Mary to North Central and from Cecilia to Iota

A win will help.
The non-casuals will be more upbeat and this alone will influence their casual fan friends.

2. Traditional media blitz (Local TV news appearances/terrestrial radio appearances)
3. $10 GA tickets (push Cajundome Box Office early and often to avoid fees)
4. On-campus promotions (signs, SGA engagement, social media like Volleyball asking trivia questions)
5. Word of mouth advertising among admin/fans (bring one extra person with you)
6. Promote YRCC (surprised how many of my family-aged friends aren't aware)
7. Utilize partners in the community with large online presence (Downtown Lafayette, Developing Lafayette, etc) to get the word out
Moderately difficult (requires additional people/planning)
---------
1. $20 first-come-first-serve general admission parking inside CF
2. First-come-first-serve $45 tailgate spots at Blackham with free parking (fee goes towards porta potties) /w Cajundome BLVD shuttle
3. Pick a loss leader on concessions menu and promote it ($1 hotdogs instead of $6?)
4. Offer free tickets/swag to people running for local public office (mayoral candidates, city/parish councils, school board, tax assessors, etc.) TSAB is away, so most will be in town hungry to shake-hands and make their presence known via social media
Requires long-term planning (possibly already in the works with renovated stadium?)
---------
1. RFID POS system (Festival International does it)
2. Overhaul tailgate rules (how can we fill it back up? Costs, locations, reduction in perks? tiered options? (trash pick-up, porta-potty wrist bands, etc.))
The one line that defines cajun fans. “Shuttle from Blackham to cajun field”. Folks at App, So Miss and Troy would celebrate a spot as close to the field as Blackham for free. And wouldn't complain once about the walk.
