I think he needs to stick to mediocre basketball takes.

I'd take Coach Hud back at this point.
Forced by the admin or not, if Des doesn’t learn very quickly and turn this around, Maggard may have killed his own career trajectory. It’s apparent that our school wasn’t serious about having a good football program.
Meanwhile…
The school serious?? Serious?? Try the freakin fan base that never showed up while we were ranked for 2 years. Fans equals money and it takes money to play. We can’t afford to pay 3 mill a year for a coach if only 10,000 people want to watch it. This area proved they aren’t Cajun fans. Can we go back and blame the school for years of bad marketing and running the fan base off?? Absolutely. But that bed is made. Maggard basically paid for the cart(Napier) and the horse (fan base) never showed up to pull it.
Lets not deflect from Maggard's accountability. He's made one good hire since he's been here. Baseball and softball have declined since his arrival. Did Martin Hall tell him to hire Billy Napier? Maggard has to own this. It's still early for Des, but so far the results are disappointing.
Glasco has been here for 6 years and achieved one Super Regional appearance. In the previous six year span under Coach Lotief, we made 5 Super Regional appearances. Coach Lotief took the Cajuns to three Women’s College World Series (2003, 2008 & 2014), seven NCAA Super Regionals and 15 NCAA regionals. How can you say that we have not declined? The proof is in the record. And for the record, Mike Lotief won his defamation lawsuit against the university. Read the report. Every one of his players supported him with written statements and did not witness any of the accusations leveled against him.
People may not like it, but you're not wrong. The attendance during the Napier years was embarrassingly low for the quality product he put on the field. The fanbase cant complain about the admin cutting corners when the fanbase cut corners. I promise you that if we had the number of fans like we had during hud while Napier was coach, we'd be talking about another elite level coach here. Thats how cold hard facts work.
That said, Des isnt dead yet, but he had better figure this ____ out. He knows as well as we all do, he's got one shot at this, and if he screws up, there's no other job just chomping at the bit to take a cajun reject, See literally every other coach we had in the history of our program.
Well I am trying to be realistic. At what point would you let Des go? I say even if we go 1-11 this year we have to keep him for one more year, but next year it would have to 8-4 in order for him to retain his position. So minimum 3 years at 8-4 on his 3rd year.
Some of you need a few hits of pineapple express and relax. I credit ODU for IDing a weakness....Our D calling scheme was exposed. Relay to field was clearly too slow for a legit fast pace offense.
Last year Coach Morgan rarely made the same mistake twice. Needs to relay to one have him bark calls.....in the mean time have front 4 with eyes forward and ready to attack at all times. Cant delay readiness in the trenches....in return giving our secondary a much better chance to execute. Getting Narcisse and Mason into rotation in DL will be huge. It was frustrating to see every linemen standing and looking at sideline while ODU was already snapping the ball. Not sure of exact number we werent ready at snap.....20ish times?
After seeing our D not ready at snap numerous times.....A stat that's hard to believe. Their longest run was 15 yards.
Our D eventually adjusted (some) and forced 2 2nd half punts.....but......it was too late.
Agree. Adjustments to the defensive calls and substitutions need to be made.
ODU’s offensive coordinator had the number 1 scoring and yards offense in fcs last year. So that gimmicky fast pace offense might burn a lot of teams. Idk. On the bright side, no one on our schedule has looked great.
UAB lost Georgia so
Buffalo lost fordham
Minnesota struggled with emu
Tx st lost to utsa
. . . we lost a well fought (but at times poorly executed ) football game on the road against a conference opponent . . . believe it or not, the world is not going to end . . . Louisiana wakes up this morning as a well greased R1 institution with the president who brought us there . . . football will regroup and be ready on Saturday . . . the part of the fan base who post here, maybe not . . . oh well . . . off to church . . .
Lamar Morgan is the person who should be getting roasted today. If you are not lined up correctly IN THE SECOND HALF that is on the defensive coaches. I would expect teams to cont to play uptempo on us. Complete embarrassment for the defensive players and coaches.
Its still hard to believe we lost that game last night, but then again the play calling was mind boggling at the end. Defense was terrible.
Des said at the beginning of the year that we need to win close games this year unlike last year. Well Epic fail number 1 close game.
The only good thing is, the season is young. Lots of football to be played.
