. . . let’s get that Mascot confirmed . . .
Ragin Review is now on Day 27 for the "We need a mascot" campaign.
I am on year 10 of we do not need a mascot. That's just my opinion, so go ahead and attack me if you wish. I do not care. We have more important things to worry about before a mascot, and no, we can't walk and chew gum simultaneously.
They think both that we had a mascot and needed a new one

Hard to buhleeve.... not being able to afford cayenne may be worst excuse ever....
"Around 2010, Cayenne went into apparent exile due to budget issues.[1] In 2017, Louisiana Director of Athletics Bryan Maggard announced that a new mascot would be unveiled within two years. In 2019, a secret committee was discovered to be working on creating a new mascot.[2] As of 2020, the Ragin' Cajuns are still without a mascot. For Halloween 2020, the Athletic site’s social media posted a picture of a graveyard with the words “Cayenne” and “The Fabulous Cajun Chicken” (the former Cajuns’ mascot) on two graves, suggesting that Cayenne’s mascot is “dead” and not making a return"
Wait..... you mean the pepper wasn't liked?Attachment 18209
its more than just having a mascot, there has to be some buzz about it to get the students and kids to embrace it. An example would be the eagle mascot at usm, the student that wears the costume is a guarded secret until the student graduates then the student gets to wear the feet down the aisle at graduatio. The students love this and they never have trouble finding someone to fill the position
I totally agree with this, but I'll add one thing. There are very, very few schools who have mascots that the students actually care about. Unless your mascot is a living animal or has some other gimmick, most students really couldn't care any less. The idea that the mascot will somehow impassion fans is kinda silly.
I think that is wrong !
A mascot does more then you think. In college football the gameday experience is everything.
If Mascots weren’t liked, we wouldn’t have Disney! Marketing for some companies is based off a mascot!
Think KFC, McDonalds, Liberty Mutual, Merrill Lynch, Frosted Flakes, Planters Peanuts etc.. all based off a mascot! This is College which a mascot is part of your brand.
Come on now let’s get serious if we are trying to move the brand forward we need a mascot
Goofy is not made for teenagers, but a good percentage of parents are taking there kids to hang out with goofy, and parents are thinking I like to hang out with goofy too.
The mascot is to get kids at a young age to enjoy themselves so they want to come back, and as they come back more they become life long fans. Just like the Parent who his taking his child to go see Goofy and part of the parent wants to see goofy.
. . . yes, little kids, big kids and those kids that bring kids to the game . . . all in some shape or form enjoy the entertainment provided by a good mascot . . .
. . . and if you think Disney World is just for little kids, you are cheating your self out of a good opportunity to have fun . . .
If someone dressed as a gator you would get so many people that would want to take pictures hang out etc.
My wife 10 yrs ago bought a dog outfit to promote a business it was at a Christmas parade, and when I tell you kids would be lining the streets to shake the dogs hand take pictures etc.
It works trust me!
The university has always been of the mindset that it is unique.
Here is an idea:
Make it official that we are so unique, that we don’t want or need a mascot.
Get Jim Nantz to make a sound bite about it:
A tradition like no other.
