He got through the first three innings in 45 pitches which is a good pitch count under any circumstances for three innings of work.
He got out the the 4th inning with 5 pitches
Again, he was dealing and in a low pitch count for 4 innings pitched.
He got out of the 5th inning with 12 pitches which put him at a 12.4 pitch per inning for the outing
Under these circumstances I believe one would be hard pressed to find a coach that was going to be pulling him before 5 innings of work.

You're opinion would be valid 99.9% of the time but we have a different dynamic at play. A medical staff, a coaching staff and player that focused solely on his back rehab and didn't give his arm the 100% focus a healthy player would normally give it. Small numbers mean nothing if you aren't physically ready. His arm wasn't ready.Quote:

Injuries happen. One did last night. That’s it.
