Softball will be broadcast instead. The softball program has been excellent for a long time, and deserve a ton of support and recognition, but that’s just ridiculous.
And it really sucks for those baseball fans that aren’t able to attend the games in person. I realize softball has those fans too, but that number is much higher for baseball.
And I would guess that more eyes from Troy would be on a baseball broadcast than there will be Texas St softball fans watching from San Marcos.
I can (maybe) understand showing softball either Friday or Saturday, both both?? Just a hideous decision.
The UL vs Texas State is a huge softball series. Alot of eyes from both schools will be watching.

We can agree to disagree. Baseball averages more fans than the softball stadiums capacity.
I love Cajun softball but women’s sports don’t draw the same attention as men’s. It’s just the way it is.

Is that why the WCWS has outdrawn the CWS the last few years? This is facts.

You sure those are facts?
Last years CWS averaged 24,407 per game.
The WCWS, with OU and Oklahoma State both in it, set a single game record with 12,533 in attendance for one session.

I’m going to need to see the source of these facts as well.
Re: Baseball week 6 rpi - April 9
Maybe that was TV ratings?
Re: Baseball week 6 rpi - April 9
This is really cool. Baseball Bat Bros has over 15k followers on twitter. Latest post, the star of the channel has "LOUISIANA" across the chest.

Re: Baseball week 6 rpi - April 9
The finals for the women beat the men 1.8 million to 1.7
Overall, the men’s viewership was higher. As always.

Something like that.

I think so too. I know JT is connected to the channel and someone else here could confirm. Great for the brand. Now that JT is here, I don't expect them to ULL us, and they have a really nice following.

The WCWS final outdrew the CWS final. But the CWS as a whole, drew more viewers.
Not to mention the men’s attendance was much higher.
Either way, it’s stupid to broadcast all 3 softball games and just one baseball game this weekend.
It’s actually a bit embarrassing.

CWS stadium is way bigger than the WCWS stadium. Attendance would always be higher. More folks tuned in to see the WCWS.

Do you think if OU or OSU were not playing in the WCWS they could average 24k in a larger stadium?

TV viewership didn't care where they were playing. More folks choose the WCWS over the CWS.

No, they chose for one game. Now would you like to answer my question?

Just the most important game they chose. Who knows what they would average. They have never played in a larger stadium. The tide is shifting to where more and more folks are watching softball.

Context matters. Just because more people chose to watch one softball game which happened to feature a nationally known rivalry over one baseball game does not mean that UL softball should be getting all their games broadcast while baseball gets one. That’s the whole point someone was trying to make. We had this discussion last year ad nauseam. It’s not that women’s games shouldn’t be broadcasted cause they should. They’ve earned that. But not at the expense of the baseball team. It’s Busch league bro.

UL vs Texas State SB is a bigger series than UL vs Troy BB. It is what it is.

That would be a loud NO.
Re: Baseball week 6 rpi - April 9
When it comes to tv, obviously you have to be fair to both sports. And, I'll give the conference office credit for staying away from weekends like this throughout the season. This is the only time it happens, and it's by design.
Here's what I don't get.
Back when the schedule was first released (which was well before the season started), Troy was the weekend baseball wouldn't have all games streamed. I would think if you folks were going to make a big issue out of it, it would have been then. But if I remember right, there were lots of folks who understood.
