Bowl wins
Division Championships
Conference Championships
Put it all up there.
I'd like someone in the media to ask that question to Dr. Maggard or anyone who can answer it. At least the darn outright Conference Championship. I'd want to tell anyone who is willing to listen that we won! I do it, for sure.

Maybe they think it would offend someone from the other side of the swamp too much. Or maybe they're afraid the championship will have to vacated 5 years from now for some unknown reason & are worried about looking bad. I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation besides just being incompetent & apathetic to the umpteenth degree.

You going to the game tonight?

Re: Football championship banner/flag
So, no banner or recognition this season, it would appear. It's been a weird year so far with everything surrounding football. But this is so puzzling.
-
Re: Football championship banner/flag
Basketball, Baseball and Softball all have banners/plaques honoring past championships.
Why the disconnect for football?
We should have something that everyone can see that recognizes our Big West Championship, Sunbelt Championships and National Rankings. This is not hard. This is inexpensive. This is very effective at building cULture and intimidation.
This issue is CENTRAL to the cULture. It should be the guiding light of the program.
There is a lot I don't understand about this university, but its failure to do this is the most baffling.

It's almost like they are expecting NCAA sanctions and don't want to have to take it down.
That is not the case, but no championship banner from a banner year is previously heretofore, unfathomable.

It’s clear that they don’t want athletics to become important. Fossil DNA will be strong for multiple generations.
We like being just slightly better than the Hoax, and other on state universities. As long as it doesn’t collapse they’re happy. How else do you explain Big Fish for a bakers dozen.

Sorry but a banner doesn't intimidate anyone.

Agree, and to add, the number ONE thing it does is recognize & help build TRADITION! This school is constantly going through an identity crisis of one sort, or other. Tradition is something that sets a bar of excellence to jump over. To disavow the tradition of success is to accept the mediocrity which outsiders wish to heap upon you. There is no foundation for future success unless one embraces the success of their past.
How can this school allow itself to be put in that position when it clearly has the opportunity to embrace excellence? And all for the price of a dog & frisbee show.

It isn't about intimidation dumb dumb. It's about the pride of ownership of excellence. You don't put banners in stadiums to scare other people. You put them in places of respect. To be honored by your future players, fans & coaches. If the reaction by those players & coaches is right, they will do the intimidating.

Right. Not the purpose.

Re: Football championship banner/flag
Think about this. How many times this season has UL played on national television & had the opportunity to have the SBC championship banner be blasted to every potential recruit in this land & blown that opportunity. If I were Mike, I would have personally taken some of that new found money & had one hung myself if I couldn't talk the school into paying for a banner. And I would have hung right over that bell no one wants to ring. This administration reminds of the song American Pie. They are the most depressing group of supposedly educated people on Earth.

I never said it wasn't about pride. I also never said a banner intimidates players. Go back and read what others said and my response. I know VObserver gave you some good strategy advice last night. Geaux Cajuns. When you want to come to a softball game with us let me know.

Your correct nobody has won a game at that place since the sign went up. It didn't intimidate Stony Brook.

You’re exactly right. Some schools have multi million dollar buildings dedicated to trophies and banners.

Re: Football championship banner/flag
The two places I've been where you could say banners are intimidating...The Dean Smith center at UNC and the arena at Duke...
