The fans from Basin-East want Napier for the sheer fact that it would mean we lose a good head coach. Doesn’t get more petty or trashy than that.

When Saban retires, that’s like predicting Tom Brady retirement, the SEC center of gravity might be College Station. Jumbo still pretty young. LSU better hire someone they’re confident can compete. Billy might be that guy, but I’m sure they’re not hiring him to stifle us. That would be an added benefit, but not the reason.

To be honest, this does make some sense. P5 job, Clemson looks very mortal, after that who do you really worry about in the ACC? Also, Blacksburg is a small college town, great place to raise a family.

Yes, I do think this is a more appealing job versus Ole Miss, Miss St, even S. Carolina. What I don't have a feel for is their AD and his vision. I think that has A LOT to do with Coach Napier still being with us.

I don't think Virginia Tech is on his list of schools, but he may listen. The one to keep an eye on is Florida. Jmo

I doubt LSU would ever hire a head football coach from UL. They are just that arrogant.

They hired YG, so there’s that. And Jerry Simmons.

Bret Venable at Clemson was roommates with Texas Tech’s AD in college, so I think that’s pretty much his for the taking.

The difference is their current AD, Scott Woodward. Woodward is going to swing for the fences as he did with Women's Basketball and Baseball. I think in the past you might have seen Billy on the short list, but I think Woodward is going to swing for names like Dabo Sweeny, Jimbo Fisher or even Mel Tucker and etc. He wants this to be a huge hire for LSU. I think Billy Napier is on a list, but it is a secondary list, not the main list. Just my opinion.

Yea, I thought of Florida, and it is attractive, no doubt. Still got to go through Georgia and Alabama. I think Va Tech or UNC is a much easier path, but who knows

Think 5 years down the road. No Saban, UGA won’t stay this good, and Billy could have Florida in prime position.

Florida has sucked for a while. I can totally see them hitching their wagon to Mr. Napier.
