Gombo = okra in french. Need to wear long sleeves when you pick it, and don't let it get too big before picking, it will get hard.

I recall that the word ‘gumbo’ was an African origin for okra. This article gives a good explanation of the evolution of this wonderful dish.

I’ve also had red beans gumbo which is truly great.
This is deja vu.
Go back 10-15 years ago, and we were having this same discussion on this board:
"Lets refer to us as ULA" - comparing to "UVA" and "UGA".
At the time, many on this board were confused:
"What does the "A" stand for?"
"We understand "UGA" where the "A" stands for Athens...."
"Does the "A" stand for Acadiana...?"
ETC.
Sounds like we have moved on in 15 + years.....
For frack’s sake. Our school gets some nice spotlight from a nationally followed paper, and we turn this into another _____ing about the name thread.
Okra gumbo is the grandfather of all gumbos.
gombos = gumbo
Gumbo
Virginia is in Charlottesville. LA is an abbreviation for LOUISIANA not Louisiana Acadiana. Every recruit at the game Saturday called us ULL. The networks use ULL. We can't let that stick because it is taking root. It took us a long time to get LOUISIANA and people complained that we _____ed too much, yet it finally happened. Just saying we need to finalize the right reference to our university - ULA - University of Louisiana. Athletic marketing needs to promote ULA.
