We want to be a big deal, the #2 program in the state ... well, how many big time universities and football programs out there don't have the games shown on TV? They all figure out a way to make it happen.
First of all, all Cajuns games were on TV last year. And this year, they are, with exception of one, scheduled to be on TV as well. So that renders your point moot.
The reason for no ESPN3 this week is that the Mountain West has a CBS Sports Net contract. They are the home team.
Just like next year's game at Tech will be on Fox Sports One or CBS Sports Net because CUSA isn't affiliated with ESPN.

Make it happen? It's not a matter of asking ESPN to put us on. It's a conference TV contract. You cant just make channels put us on. Most mid-majors dont have all their games on National TV, minus one or two that have been successful for longer than the last 3 years. It's a matter of sustained success and improving your overall athletics department, which I would think most feel like we are generally doing. We could just keep putting games on Cox4 which is only seen by people on Cox in grainy SD.
Never mind the fact that almost every game we play is being broadcasted, whether it be on ESPN3 which is pretty easy to watch and in HD, or on TV (ESPN picked us for 2 of the primetime games) as well as road games like Boise and Ole Miss that are both on channels carried nationwide that have deals with the conferences of the respective home teams.

On the main channels (ESPN or ESPN2) in primetime. There are others on ESPNU and ESPN News

Every year there is usually only 1 game on the schedule that isn't shown on ESPN3. Sucks it will be this one.
If UL wants more support ... they need to do a better job of getting the games on TV. I know purple and gold "fans" who would watch UL play on TV if they could. But they can't so they don't. Out of sight, out of mind.
We need to bombard cox with calls and emails. No reason for not having this station.

you have to have the U200 (with the optional sports package), U300, or U450 package.
Re: Boise game only on Dish/Direct TV?
Conference affiliation is the deal breaker/maker here. As far as this game MWC has a primary contract with CBS Sports Network and a secondary deal with ESPN. The ESPN deal will have the biggest Boise games and provides a Notre Dame type deal with Boise. They have to televise 3 Boise home games per year on either ESPN,ESPN2, or ABC. This one didn't make the ESPN cut.
Re: Boise game only on Dish/Direct TV?
If you have COX, and you are in the New Orleans area, it is on channel 315/1315

No those are nationally too. You can go to their schedule and there's no options by region, etc. They are national broadcasts. The only times ESPN deals with regional stuff is when they have 2 games and one is on ABC and the other on one of the ESPNs. Some areas get the different game on ABC so they flip flop them
Like 9/25 for the App St/Ga Southern game:
http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_...channel/espnu/
Or read this press release about the SBC's ESPNU games, all listed as nationally broadcast: http://www.sunbeltsports.org/news/20...401143711.aspx
Re: Boise game only on Dish/Direct TV?
Out of 12 games there are 2 on ESPN2 that the general public can easily watch. And believe me, I'm glad we have those games. And that is a credit to the administration for making that happen. A few years ago it was 0. Since the games started being on ESPN3 in 2010 I watched the games in 2010/2011 with a laptop hooked to my TV. Then in 2012/2013 things got a little easier and with the ESPN app I was able to watch them on my TV through my XBOX which is close to a normal TV experience. And I know many people who do that. But I'm talking about the avg "casual fan" in Lafayette that is watching the LSU game on a Sat night ... but would be just as happy watching the Cajuns if they could watch them on regular TV.
But I wasn't trying to whine and say "why don't we have this now?", or blame anyone why we don't have this yet. I know it isn't an easy fix or short term fix. But this is never something I hear anyone talk about as a long term goal. To me it should be part of the long term goals along with everything else. It goes back to the fact that for UL to really long term get to where they want to be ... they have to be able to get the "casual fans" on board. And imho ... being on TV more would make a huge difference in that area.
jmho.

When you get home tonight check to see if you have the channel is all I can tell you. If you do not have it blame Scott Farmer and T-Joe for not having on a channel you get with your basic subscription.

Please tell me a non-consistent top 25, non-P5 team that plays more than 2 games on ESPN or ESPN2. Also, I know an 80 year old man who watches games on ESPN3. This is a thread _____ing just to _____. Period.
