They aren't going to use Louisiana. Get over it.

I read the online version of the advocate because it is free, I don't read the advertiser online because it is not free and I also do not care for Bucky.

Don't worry Boomer, some of us were already thinking about that extra coverage including Jay. There is always the big picture, but for others not so much. LOL!!!!

Re: Notice to The Advocate: 2014 Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Football Schedule, Preview
I am reading the Advocate every day. The kid flat out knows how to write and the coverage is great. I hate the fact that The Advocate publishers are still petty and childish. Seems to me that people that still act this way are scared of UL and its potential.

Mel can you imagine how great our economy would be if everyone who created a good or service gave it away for free.

Re: Notice to The Advocate: 2014 Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Football Schedule, Preview
I pay for a monthly subscription to the DA because it is my local paper...and, as life may offer SOME things for free, publishing a paper isn't one of them. I work for a living and my work isn't free. I have, though, been looking for someone to cut my grass and wash my vehicles for free, but...as of yet...have not found anyone.

I understand people need to make money on items and goods, but it is free for now and I will take advantage of that fact. I am sure sooner or later they will start charging and when they do I will stop reading or do the same tricks that I use to read the advertiser when I find something interesting. Most of you do not know my situation but I am currently paying to house notes and have turned off cable TV in both house. It is called priorities and paying for a subscription online or to have it delivered is not a priority in my life right now. I would rather pay for my season tickets and memberships to the rebounder's club & diamond club. As for those two sports I have more information than anyone could write in either paper.

Cowardly, fearful, biased, agenda driven, scared.....exactly what I want from my news source. Not Luke's fault I know, but damn those are attributes that should concern us to the core.

Darn, can't read it from work. Considered a gambling site........:(

Normally I read it (sports) on-line. Today at a BR CC's I saw that there was a UL story on the front page of the sports, top fold too. Along with a LSU column. They produce three papers...that's 3 runs on a machine. It could be that the software and press they use won't allow them to change the name in one edition and not the other two.

Re: Notice to The Advocate: THIS is how it is done.
Until they start a ULM edition of the Advocate, I don't see any problem with Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns in the Baton Rouge or New Orleans editions.
Wait ULM, ... no confusion ... I don't see the problem ever.

Sorry. Won't EVER get over it. Period. It's personal. It isn't with you because you didn't graduate from UL or get handed a University of Louisiana diploma when you graduated. No, I won't get over it. EVER.

Unfortunately it appears Luke Johnson is going to continue to refer to UL a Louisiana Lafayette, witness Thursday's articles and photo's....Everyone should shoot him an email and politely ask him to quit doing so, don't be nasty, kill him with kindness... email address ljohnson@theadvocate.com

I have two degrees. Both say I graduated from The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The university has to be called that. The issue is what the university's athletics program should be called.

To pretend that full name usage is normal outside of letterheads and diplomas is falling asleep on the topic.
Then again, you can't fall asleep in bed until you pretend to be sleeping first. :)

Re: Notice to The Advocate: THIS is how it is done.
If our president was standing up and supporting this I could see where everyone is coming from, why would Luke Johnson fight for this against his bosses when our president won't? If everyone turned all their attention on this to the one person who can answer maybe we would know something. My how soon everyone has forgotten last years Monroe game. Luke Johnson didn't do that.

The guy came on here before he started and explained the situation. Even if he writes "UL" or "Louisiana" in every reference, it will be edited. There is no reason to send any messages to him. The guy is doing a fantastic job with his coverage of our program. Fight the good fight all you want, but aiming your shots at Luke Johnson is a complete waste of time.

---I always think to myself that the next time I see T-Joe I will ask him about the name deal and the seemingly endless back and forth name use, the official name that is required by law, the athletic branding , the historical significance, the alumni's desires, etc-----maybe it is time however for Buckley or Jay or some news guy to get an interview!!!

It's about getting the facts right. My diploma correctly identifies the name of my alma mater. The official name of the university.
The issue is how we think the athletic team should be called.
It's two separate things.
What Louisiana84 was doing was trying to tie the university name on his diploma to the name debate. I was trying to point out his inaccuracy.

Re: Notice to The Advocate: THIS is how it is done.
In '84 there was class that got diplomas with University of Louisiana.

There are thousands more with southwestern Louisiana on their diploma.
