Hey SOME PEOPLE WORK DONT YA KNOW !!! :)
hey, we got it handed to us last night. y'all have a great pick up in the Cook kid. we couldnt get a solid bat on him all night. The reason he was taken out was because your offense kept him in the bench to long and his arm got cold and he started throwing in the dirt LOL
no doubt it was one of the oddest games i've ever seen with our 7 errors. it was like watching a t'ball game, mostly on our end for sure.
Good Luck the rest of the year, hope we're both in a regional somewhere.
This shouldn't affect LA Tech at all. In Texas, there is Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Texas State and UTEP. 3 of those are in the same conference, UTEP in C-USA and Texas State is 1AA.
In Louisiana, LSU, UL, LA Tech and UNO are the main schools with ULM and the other state schools behind those. There is a similarity to some extent to Texas. LA Tech has great name recognition and our name, Louisiana, will never diminish that. ULM might have a gripe, but not Tech. However, ULM doesn't really have a fight in the name game. They are UL Monroe and rightfully so. They no more deserve the UL name than Delgado. They simply rode our coatails to get the name and join our conference and should be content with that. Otherwise, they would still be in the SLC.
I personally don't really see much of a parallel in higher education between Texas and Louisiana. I think their state funding situation is much different from ours.
While I agree that UL is a far better research and educational institution than ULM, I can't agree that they are a step below us in athletics. Hell, we can't even claim to be better athletically than Mcneese! Before anyone jumps in and names the sports that we are better in, let's try to realize that football is the main driver here. ULM has regularly whooped our football team over the years, and that has to change if any claims of "separation" can be made.
Is there a return game in Lafayette this year or is a one game thing? If the Louisiana thing doesn't work out have you guys ever considered the Southern Louisiana routhe or S. Louisiana? Southern Lou. It works for that disgusting school in the next state over.
I think there are several here (not saying majority) that would have been cool with the change to "South Louisiana", so we could have also kept USL; aka, USF, UCF, etc. Would have eliminated the "double directional" reference so many hate. But, that boat has long ago sailed! Not sure I'll see this resolved before I'm a goner!

The parallel should be that these schools co-exist very nicely with their respective names. Three of them are in the same conference and no one objected to SW Texas State becoming Texas State University. Each University System has its Flagship university and the UL System needs one, which should be UL. LSU is the Flagship of the LSU System and should not be for the UL System. Academically, we are light years ahead of ULM. Tech and UNO are close. Athletically, we are mediocre at best. But, a name change and heading up a university system is not based on a few football wins. While that may bring more notoriety, it is not the barometer for leadership. Nonetheless, I am convinced that with the changes taking place at UL through a change in leadership with Dr. S and what Scott Farmer and Gerald Hebert bring to athletics, this so-called "sleeping giant" we call UL will finally awaken. I only wish these changes had taken place 10 years ago. There is no telling where UL would be today.
I think we agree that UL's academics are in place for us to become successful, but without some major success in major sports, we will fight a ridiculously tough uphill battle for in-state supremacy, much less serious national recognition.
I would love it if the football team decided to rattle off 8 or 9 wins in a season sometime in the next 4 or 5 years. If you ask me, doing that may the best chance we have of taking our university to the next level (conference realignment, etc).
Yeah our academic standards are way better than they used to be(some will argue better than UL);). but none of that matters. GIVE US FOOOBALL. GIVE US FOOOBALL
hey beauxzeaux, La Tech is a good school but many of its grads and fans apparantly don't rise above the level of simpleton. sad stuff for the most part here.

Post #20 by Champ967 shows he gets it. The rest are in terrible denial. Our boys asked that UL be put on the scoreboard at Tech during the baseball game. Tech honored our wishes. There was no whining and moaning by our crew or theirs. They respected our wishes. Thanks, Tech. Fox and Co, have a nice little show by Monroe-Ruston standards...but it is well known that they are lsu fans.

i would be hard pressed to think we had to ask any such thing with wade as the coach up there.. make sense?Quote:

Going into page number 7!!! Even the Warhoax are weighing in!

I noted the Warhoax comment that they have dominated us in athletics over the last five years and we can't stand that. I guess this guy forgets we have beaten three straight times in basketball, swept them in baseball last year, and took the series against them in softball. We also killed them in softball early this year in tournament play. If that is domination, I can't wait until we dominate them. I realize the guy was talking about things from a football perspective where they have had the breaks go their way in recent years. Since that is his perspective it just tells me that ULM has something in common with McNeese. That being if you are a non football playing athlete at that school, you are a nobody.
Don't try to confuse them with facts. It'll just make their limited brains hurt. :D
