Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Jay said maybe 1800 were in attdce.

I wasn't there.....and, no...I don't believe box score attendance figures are accurate.

Have you forgotten the Tech Mission Statement that was put in place about 5-6 years ago by your then A.D.? One word if you forgot.......Separation. I'll leave it at that.

And that is likely from the same guy that estimates your football attendance. We all know how "accurate" those numbers have been.
Re: Marlin happy to be playing Bulldogs again
LTU @ RustON is beginning to be more and more like TooLame, focusing on a few big donators to keep their athletic department in the black. No doubt general fan support has been waning, tarp covered football stadiums, empty basketball arenas. Not good for a small rural university to sustain any kind of win FAIL.

Yes, I was there. The arena seats about 8k and it was about half way full, hence the 4k. There were over 1,000 students there last night, and there were more than 150 in the upper bowl. I would know, as I was sitting in the upper bowl.

You think 4k came just because we were playing ULL. Seriously? How do explain the crowds last year around 5 and 6k when ULL wasn't even on the schedule then?

Do you think you have the same exact crowd if you play UALR last night?

I can't speak for LA Tech, but you have been on a streak, and with football ... I can see the fan base jumping on a winner.
However crowds usually tend to get larger after football season, so you can't look at last year as a whole.
What were your attendance figures pre January last year?

Awwwww, another butthurt LTU puppy can't even separate fact from fiction.
Re: Marlin happy to be playing Bulldogs again
I think the key thing from the game was that our guys performed well in a hostile environment. I am not surprised Tech attendance is improving as they won 27 games last year. I am hopeful we get a chance soon to see what our attendance would be like the year after we win that many games. I would not be surprised if we thought 4000 was a poor crowd in such a circumstance. Guy is wrong anyway. Bryant Mbamalu was on the team in Coach Marlin's first year when we had over 7000 for games against WKU and Denver at the end of a long winning streak. Some may say Bryant does not count as he did not play last night. However, Elfrid Payton was a freshman two years ago and he did play last night. We had over 5000 in the season finale that year. Just using a few facts here to clarify the situation.

This is the best start by a Cajun team since the 1993-1994 team that started 10 and 2.

Coach White never publicly said he did not want Tech to play the Cajuns. However the football series was signed within a few months after his arrival. That had been our condition to play in anything including softball which we have competed in the last two seasons. We could have played in basketball last year but Tech did not want to. That communication amongst coaches from the two schools on the matter was private not public. My source for this knowledge is our basketball coaching staff. I bet this was not even asked frequently by the North La. media.
