There should be several camera's around that area unless the governor cut back on camera use.

Unfortunately you can't see too much at night. If her body has been out there for over a week, I don't think they will find much undisturbed evidence considering all the animal activity out there. The KATC time line said her cell phone was turned off early last Saturday morning. I think she was dead when her phone was turned off. Criminals watch the First 48 too.

Over the past week we've seen nearly two-thousand volunteers join in the search effort, many of them we also saw out there Sunday at Parc International, still hopeful as investigators make big steps forward in the case.</p><p>As hundreds packed Parc International there was a somber mood as headliners took to the stage. Many couldn't help but think of the news from early Sunday morning when Mickey's bike was found.
<p>Police began their search of the Whiskey Bay Bridge area this morning, but the investigation was called off around Noon after a thorough search of the area turned up no new evidence.</p><p>Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft says in a missing persons case it is assumed there may be some foul play involved.</p><p>"The longer the case goes on without her being located the slimmer the chances are of finding her ok, but we're still hopeful."</p><p>Craft says yesterday's efforts focused on processing the crime scene before today's search could begin. Multiple agencies have come out on this Memorial Day holiday leaving no stone unturned.</p><p>"The response, especially on a holiday weekend has been overwhelming. We have not been refused one resource we have requested."</p><p>Everything from ATV's, horses, air craft and water craft are being used in this search effort. Lafayette PD has even enlisted the help of departments as far south as Houma.</p><p>"All of those jurisdictions that the river travels through are cooperating and getting their vessels out on the water in search of any sign of Mickey."</p><p>Craft says so far they don't know if Mickey was ever in the area where her bike was found.</p><p>Police will continue to investigate as long as tips are coming in. Due to the high number of calls to the tip line, especially since the vehicle of interest was released, police are allowing trained volunteers to man the phones.</p><p> </p><br clear="all"/><p><a href="http://www.katc.com/news/police-continue-search-of-area-where-mickey-shunick-s-bike-was-found-find-no-new-evidence/" title="Police continue search of area where Mickey Shunick's bike was found, find no new evidence">Permalink</a>| <a href="http://www.katc.com/news/police-continue-search-of-area-where-mickey-shunick-s-bike-was-found-find-no-new-evidence/#comments" title="View user submitted comments on this entry">Comments</a></p><br/>
Mickey is getting lots of regional and national exposure as New Orleans televison and the NBC Today show both giving her coverage. We can only pray for and support the family intil she is found.
Lafayette Police schedule 330pm CST News Conference on 5/29/12.
May be nothing substantive, but none the less a presser has been called.
GEAUX UL!
The 3:30 telecast was not breaking news. The LPD was simply telling us a lot of what is already known, and that they are getting help form multiple regional, state, and federal agencies. Still asking for leads.
I like the fact that they do this just to keep people informed and not trying to sensationalize this tragic event!!!

Some donors have asked where the money is going. We asked that question today.</p><p>According to Mickey's sister, Charlene "Charlie" Shunick monetary donations are for expenses that arise for the family. They have not worked since Mickey went missing. Money also is used for search efforts like helicopter and fuel costs.</p><p>On the Find Mickey Now Facebook page, Charlie says the Community Foundation of Acadiana account "is used solely for the overtime of police officers, and additional search resources."
Police have yet to identify the operators or occupants of the three vehicles of interest that were briefly following Shunick, which were all seen on the surveillance footage from the early morning of May 19. This is the only footage of Shunick found thus far.
I just heard on TV3 that police have released some info on the bike. It was found in water and slightly damaged at the rear wheel. That sounds like that they stopped and threw the bike over the bridge rail.
According to Corporal Paul Mouton, the damage was more than "slight." The tire was dislodged from the rim itself, and the rim was bent. Police also believe the bike was placed where it was found the morning Mickey disappeared, and not simply thrown from the side of the bridge.

Sounds like a "Hit-<font size="1">coverup</font>-n-Run"
Turb, I don't think so. Predators in order to gain access often stage accidents with their victims. I fear the worst possible outcome.
Yea the hit n run logic makes no sense. Only incentive a person would have to cover up him/her hitting mickey is if he/she was drunk...which i guess is a decent possibility...
Police rule out two vehicles of interest in Mickey Shunick case
05/30/2012 - 12:38 PM
Lafayette police have ruled out two vehicles of interest in Mickey Shunick's disappearance, but detectives still need information on the newer model white Z71 pickup truck. Detectives have identified the drivers and passengers in both the older 4-door car and the white 4-door pickup truck with the bed cover. "Investigators have ruled out any involvement by these individuals and they offered no additional clues for the investigation. Investigators continue to seek information on the newer model white Z71 pickup truck," said Cpl. Paul Mouton. The Z-71 truck is the first picture of a vehicle Lafayette police released on Friday, May 25._ The picture shows a white 4 door Chevrolet Z71 that traveled in the same direction of Mickey on St. Landry Street. The truck and Shunick were captured on surveillance video. A picture of that truck is included in this story.
meh i just think hit n run is out of the question. I think it'd take a premeditated scenario for someone to do this. Besides, i doubt someone inebriated to the point of hitting someone on a bike and deciding the best action is to get rid of said person and bike would be efficient enough to properly pick up bike and girl, ensure girl is dead and properly dispose of her and bike without raising an eyebrow.
Fellow inspectors/detectives-------I think that the lab will come up with the source of the damage to the vehicle---Was it in fact struck by a vehicle or how was the damage on the bike done???? The bike and the lady were moved---the bike seems to have had the damage done where the girl was taken dead or alive----Would really think that the damage occurred before the abduction----Why Whiskey Bay---Why go East???? maybe some car paint on the bike that can be matched to the vehicle and ergo IDed as to the Year and make----I am having my '71 wedding gift from my parents redone (2 bikes) over the years they have some banged up fenders from falls----She could have possibly fallen by her own accidental riding---maybe knocked out and picked up along with the bike!!!!!! Who knows???/ Guess what--they still haven't found the Jeff Davis Parish killer of the 7-8 ladies!!!!PRAY!!!!

Volunteers are hoping efforts get back on track. Fewer people showed up to help in the search. Some people thought volunteers were no longer needed, but the search was suspended one day only. <br /> "We put a suspension on it to give people a day to just relax and gather themselves," said Volunteer Jessie Eyster. <br /> Volunteers are still needed. since the confusion, the number of volunteers has significantly dropped. <br /> "We hope to get back into the swing" said Eyster. "We hope that more volunteers will come, and hopefully in the weekend when people are off they'll be able to volunteer more of their time and come and do a search."<br /> On average 45 search parties go out everyday, but because of the confusion only 8 groups went out.<br /> "You know do at least one search because I know it can be hard," said Eyster. <br /> Searches last about 3 hours and are held rain, or shine, every day until further notice.
I'm hearing new info on this that could finally bring the case to rest. Anyone else hear anything? I don't know if it would be right to post before it is confirmed but would like to know if anyone else has heard anything new
Yep. I heard someting new last night that would end the case, if true. Guy I talked to seemed to know what he was saying but would not identify his source of information.
there's been rumors the last few weeks. everyone seems to have a "source" but people just love to be the first one breaking the news.
ULforlife, is this the same story the brute was talking about? If so, why would they still be asking for donations/search parties if what he said is true?
