Re: Hud a coaching candidate at Ole Miss and Arizona?
and to expand on my previous post.....I see Hud as feeling like UL is his baby...its his first D-1 job where it is him building....not assisting...Spear heading the whole damn thing....You all saw how emotional he got after the ULM game....he wants this to grow and be better so much....and that is why i think he stays for 3 more years. He doesn't want to leave this program hanging.
Re: Hud a coaching candidate at Ole Miss and Arizona?
I agree with that premise somewhat, but no matter who you are, a salary in the $400,000 range and a salary in the $1 million dollar range trumps emotions, especially if you have kids. I would love to see him stay here until the program is established as a perennial winner, but I wouldnt blame him one bit if he left for life-changing money, he'd be a fool not too. Now if he leaves for a non-AQ job for a 50% (or so) pay increase, I would be very disappointed.
Re: Hud a coaching candidate at Ole Miss and Arizona?
Doesn't anybody have any rumors about seeing Archie & the rest of the search committee at the Double Tree Hotel last Friday night? Part of the price of success is having your coach be the subject of openings everywhere else.

And to expand on your post ... I fully expect our AD to offer a contract extension to Hud with a nice pay raise, possibly laden with incentives to where it is a win-win situation. I know we are not ready to offer 1M per year, but I do expect we will be able to offer an increased salary and with incentives, we should be competitive with our competitors!
If Johnny come SEC school wants to offer him now I would fully expect him to look at the long term situation. Yes, 1M does trump 1/2M, but what is our ceiling? Nobody knows. And what are the growth possiblities at SEC school and us? Nobody knows how far we can go; I expect he has a vested interest in this job/community and wants to see where we can go as well.
We are no longer the sleeping giant ... we are now awake and starting to plan our journey!

I wouldn't be surprised if his name comes up for the Southern Miss job as well because Larry Fedora is considered a high Candidate for the Ole Miss job, that is the word out of Qxford today. If USM offers, we are in position to offer something close to the current pay Fedora is paid right now. I wouldn't look for Hudspeth to be on a final top 5 list for any BCS program this season. His resume is not is good as guys like Fedora at this point.

Southern miss's coach makes $1 million a year.
Re: Hud a coaching candidate at Ole Miss and Arizona?
We all know how fantastic Hud is and what a great job he has done. However I would think he would be a hard sell to Ole Miss backers at this point. "Look we just hired the 1st year coach of the team that finished second or third in the sun belt." I just don't see it happening yet. Now a couple of years from now.....gone pecan.
I think he will be either Tennessee or Mississippi State's next coach.

Yep, not 1 Mil. I've been told we could get close to 600,000 to 650,000 with incentives. I'm not worried about USM right now.
Re: Hud a coaching candidate at Ole Miss and Arizona?
so who would our next coach be, possible candidates?

I'm not claiming to have any inside info...but I hear there's a guy out there that already has Louisiana head coaching experience. I don't want to give it away so here's your clue. His name starts with a "J" and ends with a "erry Baldwin."
...and he's just a hoot!
