The concept of a Gator as our mascot is right on target. Why can't we simply use the red/white gator mascot because of our school colors and not use the Albineaux name reference, which is problematic for many people? There is so much we can do with a Gator mascot and connect the tradition of an on-campus Swamp with the stadium Swamp. Everything that has been created is great, except for the Albineaux name. Rush would say something absurd to get people’s attention just to make a greater point.
Rush never meant the absurdity but the ones he directed it to always seemed to take the bait and freak out. He would often come back with a parallel story that suddenly made sense.
Cory has successfully got everyone’s attention and, in the process, exposed the lack of a spirit leader.
I realized he was successful when it was implied that a nickname and a sideline booster were somehow required to match.
I’ve been saying this since I started chiming in last week - the pro-Albineaux crowd is so hopelessly married to the concept as-is and they won’t hear any criticisms of the concept as it is.Quote:
