A larger market size will make UL more attractive.
Texas State is emerging because they have a ton of money with potential for way more, while being in a honey hole TV market
Being between LC and BR is not even CLOSE to Texas State's situation. Also San Marcos is projected to double in pop, and while Lafayette might be growing, it ain't growing THAT much
And none of this is to say that TX St is some great school... they're just lucky enough to have all the glitter and gold that the NCAA, ESPN, and larger conferences value the most

Both of these are a stretch that only a homer can really believe.
I believe, but this is a hard (impossible) sell to everyone else.

Austin is completely full and San Marcos is exploding.
The fact that anyone here is downplaying their prospects is laughable.
I acknowledge all you posted above, and yet two factors remain. The fact that Texas State has a presence in the Austin Market #39 and San Antonio Market #32 means very little at this point because Conference Realignment today is about Football BRAND, and no longer just about markets. It's become about survival now for the next classification.
As for their Markets, Texas owns the Austin market. And Texas State shares the San Antonio Market with Texas, Texas A&M and UTSA. Do you want to discuss where they rank in viewing ratings per home in the San Antonio Market? North Texas and Georgia State all have presence in large markets and yet they are still sitting there after constant speculation about them being on the radar.
I don't know where Texas State will be in 10 years, but I do know their Football Brand has little value at this time to the new PAC 12. And make no mistake about it, the current Conference realignment is about Football, Football and Football.
Texas State's record in the FBS since 2012 is 50-98, No Conference Championships and 1 Bowl Game. That is their Football Brand.
And no one is talking about it, but the PAC 12 is targeting Stanford and California to return because their current alignment with the ACC will probably be a short-term arrangement with Clemson, Miami and Florida State looking to leverage their positions for the next realignment and reclassification.
So yes, I think it is laughable that Texas State is being mentioned by anonymous media sources with agendas. Who knows what will happen a decade from now.

I'm hearing that from other people as well. They will not go beyond 10 total members right now, waiting for them to return.
