Yes, and he played 1 P5 in 2020 and 1 P5 in 2021, UL ranked both seasons. In 2021 UL won 12 games and lost at Texas. The difference, only 1 loss during the season and won the conference championship. That is the path, not playing multiple P5 programs on the road. Beating a P5 on the road is great, but it's not the model needed.Quote:

There is no guarantee when you schedule a future game with a P5 program that they won't be ranked. Sorry, it's not an exact science. Coaches get fired and programs transition. Again, if you are lucky enough to catch a buzz saw win at a road P5 game, that would be ideal. But the sure path is to beat every SBC program on your schedule, win the SBC Championship and limit your losses to the G5 out of conference schedule.
Billy Napier accomplished the greatest season in Ragin' Cajun Football history by winning a conference championship. He did it once.
