Here's my point: Whether it's radio or TV, you'll be hard pressed to find schools that deal with five sports. (UL was the first to have commercial radio do a complete softball schedule). Yet, despite the efforts, it's never good enough. I think sometimes you need to step back and realize, at the end of the day, you are pretty fortunate. And as stated earlier, you can't put both softball and baseball on tv at the same time.
With all due respect, Jay, you can do both. We did it for UCI when Mens basketball preempted baseball. We brought in an outside crew. I think they were there for all three UCI games. We also had an outside crew for 2/24 softball against Alabama.
We are fortunate, but at the same time, we can do better. We shouldn’t be content with broadcasting some games and not others. We have the equipment and means. This is exposure.
For what it’s worth, I ran the numbers. There are 7 of 10 non-televised baseball games that had no conflict with baseball or basketball. They should have been televised. We have the means, what’s preventing it?
Softball: 26 home games (17 televised, 9 non-televised). The non-televised:
1. February 11: UAB (no TV conflict) (1st of DH)
2. February 11: UAB (no TV conflict) (2nd of DH)
3. February 12: North Texas (conflict with MBB) (2nd of DH)
4. February 12: Texas Southern (conflict with MBB) (2nd of DH)
5. March 9: McNeese (no conflict)
6. March 11, 2022: Georgia State (conflict with Baseball)
7. March 12, 2022: Georgia State (conflict with Baseball)
8. March 13, 2022: Georgia State (conflict with Baseball)
9. March 26, 2022: UT Arlington (conflict with Baseball)
Baseball: 28 home games (18 televised, 10 non-televised). The non-televised are:
1. Feb. 22: Southeastern (no TV conflict)
2. March 2: Northwestern State (no TV conflict)
3. March 4: Southern Miss (Conflict with Softball)
4. March 25: South Alabama (Conflict with Softball)
5. March 27: South Alabama (Conflict with Softball)
6. April 3: Georgia Southern (no TV conflict)
7. April 15: ULM (no TV conflict)
8. April 16: ULM (no TV conflict)
9. May 7: UT Arlington (no TV conflict)
10. May 8: UT Arlington (no TV conflict)

Any idea what the cost is for the university to produce a game

Cost is also a factor (I think it's roughly 10K per game, but I'll check and report back.)

Please do. I’m very interested in that number. Also interested in the breakdown of what the number represents.
Re: BB G1: Louisiana 5, South Alabama 4
I'll try to get the number but I'm not gonna dwell on the details.

The game against southeastern is on ESPN plus. You think they paying $10k per?

Not looking to become a part of an argument here, but I’ve watched a few SLU games this year. They have a Sports Broadcasting degree, so all of their ESPN+ broadcasts are student run. I’m sure that drives their cost down significantly.

ESPN+> Stat cast > twitter> the deer camera they used for softball year ago > radio I rather listen to nails on a chalk board than listen to a game on the radio though .
Just broadcast the game with a couple of IPhone don't even need announcers

Nichols does just that on YouTube, or at least did in our game. One stationary camera. No announcers. Less production value than ESPN+, but better than zero video. It is easy to synch the radio, if so inclined.

Exactly or have 2 or 3 and a student flipping between them...can't be that expensive
Re: BB G1: Louisiana 5, South Alabama 4
I ran the numbers cause I have too much time on my hands. Most schools have the future scheduled for broadcast, but Georgia Southern and South Alabama (just SB not scheduled) do not (for both BB and SB). I looked at total number of games broadcasted versus not. I also looked at conflicts (whether it was not broadcasted because something else was being broadcasted on same date).
All 12 schools broadcast baseball games, while 7/10 broadcast softball (South Alabama, Georgia State, and App State do not broadcast softball). We are about 6 of 12 in baseball and 4 of 10 in softball.
Baseball (games broadcasted/total games)
1. Coastal 30/30 (all)
2. Georgia Southern 30/30 (all)
3. Troy 25/29 (four non-broadcasted were during basketball season)
4. South Alabama 10/12 (both non-broadcasted games were conflicts with MBB or WBB; schedule does not have TV information for future games)
5. App State 17/22 (no conflicts)
6. Louisiana 18/28 (7 with no conflicts, 3 with conflicts)
7. Texas State 21/33 (all 12 non-broadcasted games are conflicts)
8. Little Rock 18/32 (1 conflict, 13 non-conflict)
9. Arkansas State 15/27 (all 12 with no conflicts)
10. UTA 11/27 (7 games conflicted, 9 non-conflicted)
11. ULM 9/27 (2 conflicts, 16 non-conflicts)
12. Georgia State 9/31 (all 22 with no conflicts)
Softball (games broadcasted/total games)
1. Georgia Southern 16/16 (all)
2. Texas State 16/19 (1 conflict, 2 non-conflict)
3. Coastal 22/32 (8 conflicts, 2 non-conflict)
4. Louisiana 17/26 (6 conflict, 3 non-conflict)
5. Troy 16/26 (4 conflict, 6 non-conflict)
6. UTA 11/20 (0 conflict, 9 non-conflict)
7. ULM 6/20 (5 conflict, 9 non-conflict)
8. South Alabama 0/14
9. Georgia State 0/21
10. App State 0/16
We want to be the standard in the SBC. We should start acting like it.

Impressive research and reporting.
