Re: Any high school senior that can kick the ball past the 20?
How about the fact that we were allowing the TE to return kicks on us like he was a RB.

Then how does anybody evaluate and choose a decent kicker? This argument sounds ludicrous, especially coming from someone who so often makes such salient arguments. So, I must ask, what are you really getting at?

I'm sure Mandell from Acadiana is on the radar, but I believe he is committed to Tulane at this time. I know he punts, not sure if he kicks too. I thought Stover was going to walk on at LSU too, maybe not.

We're at #38 with 20.06 yds/return but like dms said, it doesnt matter if you're #1 if the opposing team recieves from the 15 every time, they start out at the 35 on average
Re: Any high school senior that can kick the ball past the 20?
Hard to believe at a university this large there isn't one former soccer player that can put it past th 10 yard line consistantly. Find him (or hell her for that matter), give them a partial scholarship. Tell them they only have to practice an hour a day, and run off the damn field after they kick for all I care. Our kickoff/kickoff coverage is a major problem.
Though in the last game, we couldn't even stop them when they were pinned on their own 1.
Nevermind.

Mandell came in on an unofficial visit to UL this past weekend. He is still committed to Tulane. Seth Sebastian is another local kid with a good leg. Stover has come in as well on an unofficial visit. Problem right now is that we have two PK's on scholarship, one is your backup punter. With Ortego being a senior next season, I could forsee signing another P/K, but someone would have to be released from scholarship. I don't see the staff making that decision during the season.

Re: Any high school senior that can kick the ball past the 20?
If Lance cant kick it inside the 10 yard line then why is he not kicking?

Very interesting that you mention the tee and I guess the height of the ball----When the Boomer was kicking off for the Cajuns Big Russ would come to the area that I would KO from and use his heel and kick up the turf on 4 sides that gave me an inch higher -----on the football field==lol!!!!

The Stover kid is a pretty good HS LB (likely a SS in college) and has out played the other LB who has committed to LSU.

If he kicks it out of the end zone in high school he can kick in the end zone in college. As far as the tee, he can ajust to that.
