Flagship has nothing to do with it. If it doesn't have "University of" before it, use of Louisiana is NOT illegal. That is also why we can call ourselves Louisiana athletically, i.e. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. I still don't know why we use the Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns. This is not meant to get into a name issue thread. It was only a suggestion for a name for the basketball tournament should be again host one.

This makes sense. I was just curious after reading a previous poster's remark about Grambling & Southern claiming the title "bayou classic".

This would be pretty cool. Was the original bayou classic an all Louisiana tournament?

Re: Basketball schedule almost done
You may or may not remember, but the last couple of times we hosted a basketball tournament, it was the "Louisiana Classics Tip-off".

What is the max # of teams usually invited to these pre-conference tournaments held early on in the season? It would be neat to have an all Louisiana tournament held in the cajun dome, though it seems like it would equate to more games than schools would want to play. If I remember correctly, those tournaments are usually pretty small.

Usually four teams. ANd, you either play two games, or make it a round robin and play three.
