If men's basketball gets in the hunt, I would say your words are true about 5 major sports.

I don't know. UCONN wins national
Championships in basketball (me and women) and can't get a sniff out of P4 conferences. Football would catch up quickly if admitted.

Uh, no UCONN football tried already, couldn’t draw flies, so much so, it went away.

Collegiate athletics isn't a big deal outside of the USA. It wouldn't surprise me to see them become less relative here in the states over the next couple of decades.

The PAC 12, PAC 10 or whatever else you want to call them today, they will be slightly rated higher than the SBC. They have no media deal on the table and are making promises off of projection.
The MWC is using the exit fees to leverage their top programs with a larger share of the media money. This will probably mean schools like Texas St will agree to receive less money if the entry fees are waived and it will be just enough to cover the additional travel cost of $1.5M or $2.0M above the SBC, and probably nothing more than that at this time. ESPN is not renegotiating these media deals, and they have all the leverage.
Re: What I'm thinking about reallignment
What a weird world we live in when Sun Belt bottom dweller Texas St. has become the prettiest girl at the dance.
Nothing makes sense in college football anymore.

2. Today Gonzaga announced to the PAC-12. When you look at the "new" league, there are good hoops schools that have left the MWC. But that move speaks volumes. Gonzaga wouldn't have said yes without knowing the PAC's plans for the one addition. And they weren't coming if TXST is the choice IMO.
3. I truly believe Memphis is back on the table for the PAC, without Tulane or USF. I think the PAC will sweeten the pot and Memphis would love to be in the same league as the Zags.
4. If I'm right, I don't think the AAC necessarily needs to do anything. They don't have divisional play and they have plenty of schools. They COULD add someone, but they don't have to.
5. I think Texas State remains in the SBC, which should make you all sleep better, considering what the possibilities are if they should leave.
That's what I think. We'll see how right or wrong I am.
Oh, and neither UTEP nor UNM would stomach NMSU. That's not on the table.
Thanks Jay.

America has developed some pretty salty lenses these days . . . it’s all in what is seen through those lenses . . .

I’d guess the tell was Tarleton State being courted by the MWC. The gnashing of teeth from CUSA filled the air.
