That travel will be brutal.

Imagine the travel expenses.

ACC with a 2-team PCC division. Make it make sense to me.
SMU finally bought their way into a P5 conference.

I believe it’s 7 years.

True. And teams choosing their own conference make even less. Name one other place besides ncaa where that happens.
"Hey mlb we are going to move to the AL west"- signed cubs and cardinals... you will never hear that

And that now likely becomes the standard for the next batch of g5s to "move up" to p5...yay we moved up, but we don't get the money or even the payday for playing the p5 teams on the road anymore

So, SMU get's no media money for the first 7 years, Stanford and Cal will get a reduced share. They made this move in coordination with ESPN to increase their media rights to placate Clemson and Florida State whom along with UNC still voted against the addition of the three. ESPN has the rights to renegotiate the deal if the conference loses any members in the future falling below 15 members and replacing them with G5 programs.

The PAC is dead in the water. Their media deal is done after this season. The best option for Washington State and Oregon State which stand to lose $30M next year, is the MWC. They can keep their Olympic Sports travel in the West and compete for championships immediately.
Re: It's Official....Stanford, Cal and SMU to the ACC.
This is all beyond stupid.
