Each of the three transfers who left this year are going to lesser programs. In fact, I don't believe any of them are going to D1 programs. I see that as a recruiting issue as much as anything else. It was doubtful Tyrone Wooten would be a major contributor once it was realized he was only a part time starter for his JUCO team in his sophomore year. Overall, I see this situation as part of the national trend of an increasing transfer rate. Much of the success of Jessie Evans was a result of transfers contributing. We all hope a return to this approach results in improved play.
So, somehow, highly rated players want to transfer in to the program and its a negative? Your dislike for the state of the program is obvious but that may be reaching.
No it's not a negative, have you seen them play? Keeping players here has been an issue, they haven't played here yet. What will cause these guys not to be able to shoot? Black walls? Seats too close to the goal? Or the usual we don't get to practice in the dome enough? Or it's impossible to win on the road? We don't have Shawn anymore? Just tired of the excuses. It's weird when Marlins guys transfer its because they are malcontents or attitude problems or just not good enough but when we get transfers they are the savior a of the program. I'm gonna wait and see who is here next year before I book my big dance reservations.
Valid points. I can agree that we have underachieved but dont think the program is a total loss right now. I take more of the long view. I think we can be pretty good this year and have the potential to be much better in two years. If we stay at the same level then I might be jumping on your bandwagon.
Marlin had two NBA contracted players on the same team two years in a row. We had two huge comeback wins to get to the NCAA. First double digit to WKU then to GSU.
We haven't sniffed the NCAA in any other season.
We're a mid range program in a lower tier league. That's good enough for 60% including non division one opponents. 'IDunnoFarmer' loves that almost two-thirds winning percentage.
A practice court with walls closer to the rim than any place in the country is my concern and mine alone.
I haven't seen anyone else use it as an excuse.
Ragin4U nailed it, somehow, highly rated players want to transfer in to the program and its (turned into) a negative.
