Re: one magazine ranks all 125 D-1 FB coaches
Let's say a certain entity in Starkville in in need of a new employee.
Every year, you will be facing Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, a resurgent Ole Miss, and schools due for a rebound like Arkansas and Auburn .
You are guaranteed to go 8-4 at best and get fired for it in a few years.
You will be making only 30-50% more than your current million dollar contract at an entity that you are guaranteed employment for life.
Would you roll the dice on a certain dead end job?
or,
Would you stay put, get rich, become a legend, and get a stadium named after you with your statue out front?

I don't think any coach is guaranteed employment for life at any school. Ask Jim Valvano.

Coaches live and die to try and prove this wrong!

Yeah, I get that, but just looking at Starkville.
They won the SEC in 1941.
Next championship was a division championship they won in 1998. That particular club went 18-6 the 2 years after that, then fired the coach after 3 losing seasons.
Finally, the current stretch under Mullen is the most sustained success they have had for decades, and mark my words, they will force him out one day for no good reason.
Such is life in Starkville, MS.

Putting Hud behind any amount of resources...run for the hills. You see what he has already done with a barebones budget and perception against him...now give him a bigger gun and a bigger name to recruit with...SEC destruction.

Are you serious? He was let go at NC State before he died? Man, my memory is really gone.

The same things happened to Tuberville at Auburn and Cutcliffe at Ole Miss. I'm shocked Georgia hasn't fired Richt for no good reason.

Miles over HUD? I don't think so
Re: one magazine ranks all 125 D-1 FB coaches
I think the Michigan coach is WAY overrated!
