I am hearing the hang up is his wife doesn't want him on the road recruiting all the time. If he would have been retained he would be doing that anyway, but for way more money. I also heard even if he wasn't retained he may not have returned to LSU. I hope we can land him. If we don't I don't like the direction we may go to fill that position.

Yeah I really don't like the idea of promoting analyst. I would have assumed we would have tons of external candidates

I wouldn't be surprised either way, the other choice was a GA that has been involved with recruiting for a while. Either way, I'm good with Desormeaux's decision.

T, surely we had a ton of external candidates apply. Do we just have better guys already on staff?

He came here right after his nfl career ended.

Ahh why the name sounds familiar. Still questionable hire if Hull was an option

Re: Football Staff specULation
You would think with the amazing success of our running game and quality of RB's, we could pull a good RB's coach.

Why do you assume we haven't? Again, he is a known quantity. I assume both his recruiting and coaching abilities have been assessed in real time.

We're both assuming here. The results remain to be seen. We shall see.

Covcaj is not assuming anything. Norwood has been here so they have seen with their own eyes what he can do.

Apologies. I should have said that Des and senior staff have been able to assess his recruiting and coaching abilities.

Re: Football Staff specULation
I trust whatever Des does...He knows who will be best and would not put his first job at risk.

Is the defensive side of the ball set?

If that was the case then no coach would ever get fired. Lets back him up and hope all hires work out and if they don't lets hope he makes changes.

Both sides are set up.

Unless they opted out. Then years in the system is irrelevant.

Actually it IS assuming. He hasnt performed in the duties he's been promoted to do. Thus the "remains to be seen" and "we shall see". See how that works?

When the pressure is on how will he respond? That remains to be seen due to lack of experience, it is assuming that it will work out. I am pulling for Coach Des and whoever he hires.

Has there been an outside hire of yet?

Outside of UL with no previous UL connections? No.
