But you are still correct. When the guys doing all the work gets the same as Larry Last player in, it’s ripe for a great economic lesson to take place.
I talked about this article with a few friends yesterday evening. So this Donor Collective that requires the football athletes to do community service to receive the funds, sounds like a 501c. That's a $2.13M payroll for 85 athletes for certain. My point was this money is going to football players at Texas Tech and mostly male athletes at the programs doing such deals. That doesn't sound like equity to me, while these funds are generated outside the program it's still funneled to the football players. I'm speculating here, but I can forsee legal issues eventually in concerns of female athletes not receiving such funds.

It looks like the subject of this thread, before it got hijacked, will have a college decision to make as the draft is in the books and appears his name did not get called.

I seriously doubt it. As long as the money is coming from a collective and not the university, Title IX won’t apply. And not only that, I’d go as far as to say it can’t apply.
I’m pretty sure the same antitrust laws that prevent the NCAA from regulating NIL will also prevent the government from interfering with NIL on the basis of Title IX.

The later statement may not be correct. Different laws and may be different analysis and different result.

Theo got a lot more than 10 grand at Ole Miss. One of our basketball players has received some NIL deals and some additional ones are still being negotiated. He is very satisfied with how things stand now.

Mike do you know what is the largest dollar amount of any cajun athlete NIL in any sport?

I'm not suggesting that it would apply to Title IX because it's being done through a Donor Collective. What I am suggesting is because there has been nothing similary done or encouraged for any of the female sports, that I wouldn't be surprised if a lawsuit is filed. A lawsuit doesn't have to have merit to be filed.

Well, that's crazy considering he would be considered a bench player in the SEC. If he's a starter, they aren't going to be very good.
